Verizon Wireless JetPack Hotspot MiFi 4510L Constantly disconnecting or shuting off all of a sudden

I upgraded my braodband to the Jetpack Hotspot MiFi 4510L February of this year--2012. It was working perfectly wonderful at first but a lil over 2 weeks ago this P.O.C. keeps shutting down on it's own. I can be connected to the WiFi for any amount of time but if I walk away and my laptop times out to the screen saver, when I come back I have no internet connection. When I check my device one of 3 things are happening it's on battery full with 3-4 bars and a flashing green light, (2) battery full, 3-4 bars flashing purple light (3) shut off no flashing light. It is completely annoying to have to get up and go reset the modem multiple times a day over and over and over again. I have checked my laptop and it is not a computer issue it's definately a problem with the MiFi. I am thinking maybe it needs an update but im scared it may get worse and of course with updates you can't go backwards if you don't like it. Does anyone else with this device have the same problem? and has anyone updated the device and experienced any problems? Thanks

sounds like the 3g signal is stronger, try setting it to 3g only and see if you get disconnected

Exact same thing happens to mine. 12 month warranty, mine is 16 months old, 8 months left on the contract and they want $250 for a new device. Get it replaced ASAP before you get stuck like I did.

I got my Mifi 4510L in September 2011. My first call to tech support was IMMEDIATELY. They sent me a new 4510L. My second call was in Feb 2012. They sent me a new 4510L. My third call was in July 2012. They sent me a new 4510L. I kept the one I had and sent the replacement back, It was easier than resetting all the log ins again. My fourth call was in September 2012. After almost three hours on the phone the tech found a note from the February trouble ticket...An ENGINEER had noted that a Mifi would NOT be reliable in my area (rural Southern MN). They sent me a Pantech UML290 usb modem (Motorola?). Of course it had NONE of the other materials, such as driver disk, instructions, etc. Using the mifi I downloaded the necessary software (VZ AcessManager) and proceeded with the install. It works quite well. As of this writing it has been continously connected for 65 hours. Of course it is only setup on one computer. I did not send the Mifi back (cost me about $215 on my bill). When I need to connect one of the other seven devices in my house I go back to the Mifi. I leave the Mifi go until it takes a @#$% and then switch back to the usb modem. I came across this thread while looking for a broadband usb router to use with the Pantech usb modem. The Cradlepoint router I had with the usb modem before I got suckered into the Mifi does not, of course work with the Pantech. Some days I think I should move into town just so I can get cable internet.
