I was using Hughesnet due to living in an area where i can't get cable, or broad band Hughsnet was just too much money, so i come to Verizon and ask about 4G. The folks there told me that if I can use my cell phone at my house, i could get G4, so out of Best buy I go with the little unit in hand, get it home and off i go! The problem i get is i keep getting disconnected, if I'm reading the news paper on line, when i'm done reading one story, i have to go back to settings to re-connect my I-Pod, then i can move on to my next thing i wan to read. So the good folks here at Verizon did a bunch of checking on their end, did a thing called a "roll by" where they drive by your house and i guess they take some readings and here is what i was old, i was told that i'm seven miles from a tower and i was just going to have to live with it, I was told that they will not make m pay a fee if i cancel my contract (termination fee). Friends i'm asking, here do i go from here, do i have any other options out there, if i go with another cell company say like U.S. Cell, and their 4/ G will i run into the same problems? I'm retired so i can't afford all the money for hughes net, it is just too much. I really like Verizon and their staff is very friendly and want to stay, but I can't continue with all the disconnection issues, i would be willing to try almost any thing short of dial up! Lol. Ok folks help an old guy out and tell me what I can do? Is there not a stronger g/4 rig that has more horse power than this little Samsung unit? Thanks in advance for your help......bob pease

7 miles away is a rather long distance. I would take them up on their offer before it expires and THEN try other services.

Is a cell tower a cell tower? Don't these companies all use the same tower?, even if i went with a different company, the cell tower would still be 7 miles away........right? Why would it make a difference? I am only looking to get this fixed, i like the service, and i thank you for your reply and asking your time to answer my questions. Thank you!

First your situation is not dead...you need to find out what your rssi (dBm)? Once you are armed with this number you can look into getting a 3 Watt LTE Amplifier and external Antenna. You can even go with a Wireless Amplifier Repeater kit to amplify your cellphone and Modem.
First get your rssi (dBm) readings to get more info on how to get the rssi for your particular device and read about rssi and dBm go to the following link:

Hughesnet and Verizon are about the same price. I'm not seeing the savings. Not promoting Hughesnet but at least they won't charge you for going over. If I were getting Verizon internet i'd get HomeFusion over using my phone or a mi-fi or USB dongle or whatever. One of the advantages of HomeFusion over those other ways from Verizon is that the antenna is OUTSIDE the home and it's more powerful.

Thank you Brian68
I did the address check that the site requested and the home fusion will not work at my location. Love living in the country, but some times it does make things hard, no cable TV, no DSL, no broad band lol. I just want to read the paper without have to reconnect between each story!,, good thing i read slow or i would be reloading every thirty seconds! Lol. Thanks again! Guess i'm going to have to drop the www.3gstore.com boys a call and get that booster / antenna thing, see what that will do for me

If you can get 4G over your phone I'm not sure why you can't get HomeFusion.
