I am using windows xp. I have an Averatec 5400 series laptop. I have tried to connect wirelessly and it will not even register on the laptop as available connection. It works fine via the USB. I have another, newer laptop that it works fine with wirelessly.  Can you please give me suggestions for getting the wireless conection. I have been able to use wireless connections on this computer many times before.

I'm not sure but I don't think your lap top has a wireless card, can you confirm that it does?  If you don't have a wireless card you won't be able to connect wirelessly.
