network extender purchased from another verizon customer...

I purchased a network extended from another verizon customer that has moved and no longer needed it.  It's the Samsungscs-26uc4.  Worked great for her, but I cannot get it to work at my house.  Power light and WAN light are solid blue, but the SYS and GPS are solid red.  It has been 12 hours since I plugged it in, and nothing has changed.  I have also moved the external (plug-in) antenna to another window, but I have not yet received a blue light.  Any ideas?  If this product was registered by the previous owner, do I need to register it in my account to activate?  I'm not sure what to do next...Thank you in advance for any advice.

I was always wonder this, I asked and the tech reported that the device should function without any additional configuration but if I had to guess you may have to contact CS to allow the device to work because I believe this is why the GPS is required to function...   I think the location address has to match the customers address to function.

Have you checked all connections and made wust the network connection if working correctly first?

Thanks for the reply Wildman...yes, I rechecked all the connections this morning.  I would assume that the network connection is good because the WAN light is solid blue, indicating a valid connection (according to the manual).  I could be wrong on that one though...have to re-read the manual.  The connection is working fine with the computer, so I don't think that is the problem.  Do you have the CS number available?  I will give them a call.  I'm not at my home computer right now though, so I don't know how much help they can give me..

You can call 611 from phone but it would be wise to be near the device to troubleshoot......  Another thing to try is power off modem router and extender and then plug in the device in this order...  Modem / Router / Extender and see if the system updates connection..

Well, it has been a couple weeks now, and still no luck.  I have contacted Verizon support several times, and I have spoken to the Network Extender specialists, but no one can figure it out.  This getting to be a very frustrating problem.  The Verizon tech support has been very courteous and have tried to help, but to no avail.  I cant understand why the extender won't pick up it's location on GPS!!  My hand-held Garmin and the Garmin in the car both work at the house, but the Samsung does not.  You would think that you could manually inform the unit where it is located at, but apparently that is not possible.  Any other ideas besides giving the extender some percussion maintenance?

Have you open the door where the GPS receiver is located to make sure it is plugged completely into the connector?  Also if you received the extender cable for the receiver, try plugging it into the cable and stick it outside the window to see if the connection works..

Last night I took the extended to my mother's house, and plugged it in there just to see if the GPS would work...and I couldn't believe it when it only took about 10 minutes to have all Blue lights!  So, I guess the problem is my location.  To test this, I turned the Garmin on while on the way home, and it worked fine all the way to my house.  Once there, if I shut it off and restarted it, it couldn't pick up a location.  The house must be in some kind of GPS blind spot.  Same for my hand held GPS...If I let it pick up satelites while away from the home, it will work fine at the house.  If I pull the batteries out, reset it, and try to start it while at home, it can't get a strong enough signal.  What now?  Any way to boost the power of the receiver?

Actually there is no way to increase signal but if the gps reception is stopping it from working have you tried to see if your Garmin picks up in your house and see if the extender can be moved near that location, also how did the ideal of placing the gps receiver outside a window to see if it grabs a signal?
