Well, because it’s not your IP address, its Verizon’s IP address. Your IP address is a private IP address connected to Verizon’ private network. Verizon has routed you through their private network to the internet, using whatever route it takes. The point where it comes off Verizon’s network and connects to the internet is the IP address that IP Chicken and others show as your IP address. That point might be within a mile or 100 miles away.
