10 easy steps to play Farmville on Facebook with Froyo 2.2 update

I figured this may warrant its own thread.

Farmville is very popular and now with 2.2 release everyone can play right on their phone. If you tried to play after updating to 2.2 Froyo you probably received an error that says it isnt available on this device.....NOT SO!!

But you do need to make a change in your browser settings:

Instructions are for the default web browser.

1.Download and install Flash 10.1 from market

2.Open your browser, go to facebook.

3.type into the browser about:debug and press go. The browser will go right back to the same screen you were on previously and it appears that nothing happens.

4.Press your menu button(bottom left physical button)

5.Press "MORE"

6.Scroll down to "Settings"

7.Scroll all the way down to the bottom where you see "UA STRING"

8Choose "Desktop" This will "trick" websites into thinking you are logging in from a PC computer and not a Droid.

9.Hit back until you are on the facebook page again.

10. Refresh your browser and launch Farmville!!!

Enjoy it.

I will likely post this in the general area too because it isnt just DX related.

Thanks, Works Great for me. Rather slow loading, even on Wifi, but it works. I still want the farmville app. Using your technique forces all sites to think your coming from a desktop. Lots of sites I would prefer running there mobile version instead.

True...Easy to go in and change that UA string back to ANDROID.

As for the speed, it is definately running fast on my X using 3G. I havent tried wifi yet while playing farmville.

Hey Skkybell....where did you get stuck? Maybe I can help you. I assume you have 2.2 froyo downloaded and installed and have downloaded and installed Flash 10.1 from the market place?

you could try the browser "skyfire" the UA string thing is built in as a drop down.

I use Skyfire but posted instructions for default browser. I can say i played for about an hour straight at work(don't tell my boss) with default browser.

do you have wifi and 3g on? Its possible you are experiencing some connectivity issues. try airplane mode on + wifi on. that will turn off 3g. Or turn off wifi.

oh yeah...make sure ou choose "full site" and not mobile site at the bottom of facebook

I am so sorry that the fix isnt working for everyone. For those who this does not work for, try to use "skyfire" web browser from market.

No..wait now it's not working,says I need to install flash 10. and I did already.

Yea.. I've tried airplane+ wifi on..same thing. I then tried skyfire browser and it acted the same way the default browser was acting. It will load everything..even some of the things on my farm (gates and some trees.) then after about 5 minutes it errors and goes blank with a play button.. when I press this button it refreshes the flash and goes to the farmville preloader and the process just repeats itself. I've also tried using farmvilles direct site (www.farmville.com) got it was the same. Wish I could get it to work :smileysad:
