You should get an alert on your phone that says there is an update available.

To get the update, tap the widget Settings/About phone/System updates and it will tell you from there whether you have an update available and you can download it from there as well.

It will probably be early September is what I am hearing.

Just an FYI ... I believe all Droid X users are on the 2.1 version.  I just received my Droid X yesterday and I have the 2.1 version.

I was told by a rep that I should have the update by Aug. 13.  I am an X user.  Need the phone for work for my outlook calendar.  Got tired of paying extra $15 for my BB.  If, after the update, I cannot get my Outlook calendar, I have to exchange my phone.

Have you tried the app Touchdown? I have heard that it works pretty well for exchange

Thanks for the info.  I have tried but it still does not work.  I company has upgraded to Exchange 2010 and this may be the issue.  And just for an update, I did not get the 2.2 update like the VZ rep told me.  I am still waiting.

Motorola's time line is late summer, and Verizon's is early August. They are both in the same period, so I am going with the specific time, which is early August, I would not be surprised if it came out early, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Most frustrating thing about the Droid X is all the false advertising that Verizon is still engaging in.    Just got another advert/flyer the other day in the mail advertising that I can get the "Droid X - the first ever wireless device with Adobe 10.1".    But from the looks of think both the Droid 1 and Droid 2 will have Froyo and adobe flash long before they get around to even start pushing Froyo to the Droid X.    Still is a display at the local Verizon store with similar wording and when I brought it to the salesman attention he just acknowledged it most likely wasn't true, and moved on to another customer.    There is the slight possibility that Verizon will hold back the second updates for Droid 1&2 to make sure Droid X gets it first, but I doubt it.

Matt, a Motorola employee, said while responding to an issue on their support forum that  "A fix for this will be included in the upgrade to Android 2.2 scheduled for deployment by early September." Summer is over on I think Sept. 22, so I would think by the middle of Sept. the update will be avaliable.

Your phone, just like any other electronical device (computer, ipod etc.), will tell you when the update is avaliable...does that help?
