Being out of your state for the week doesn't matter. Being out of the US doesn't matter either. If you phone did receive the update and you should have receieved a notification about the update. If not, on your homescreen press Menu>Settings>About phone>System Update to see if you can pull the update down yourself. If not just wait for it or manually ipdate it.
