2.2 Update

I just got the X tonight and looked at the current firmware and it says 2.1. Does it update to 2.2 automatically or do I have to do it manually? Also, should I just wait till the 2.2 bugs are fixed?

You will have to do it manually. The steps to performing the update are listed below:

Menu
Settings
About Phone
System Updates
Then Check to download & Install

Once you have done this it will download and install the update.

Thank you very much for answer :smileywink: my next question is, with some of the bugs I'm reading about 2.2 should I wait??

U can pull update urself, unless something has chgd since I did it @ the end of sept.:

settings > about phone > system updates

U can try it 1st if u want w/ out turning wi-fi on, but I couldn't pull it on my X untill I did. Also, if u get the "check for updates not available @ this time" errror, power phone off & reboot (I also had to do that, but didn't do a batt. pull, just used on / off button, however, I guess u could try pull also if need be). Make sure u have @ least (50%) batt. power before starting. There were some post about not leaving X plugged in chrg. while doing update, that it caused problems, mine was unplugged.

For me it definitely solved some major bugs & was worth it, even though it did add a couple of others that are not as bad & I can live w/ for now. On moto's forum it apears they know about & are working on most of the new issues. Hope this helps & Good Luck.

If you have installed any apps or did any cutom set of device before doing update I suggest you hard reset before doing update to avoid update issues.

Okay, but what if the update is not in your area yet?

2.2 should be available everywhere by now. If you can not download 2.2, I would check what apps I have. Sometimes an apps will not allow you to download anythings. Do you have a virus protection program? A firewall set up? If so, stop them and then try downloading.

2.2 is definitely out for the X. I just got mine in the mail yesterday and it had 2.2 pre-installed.
