The "Over The Air" official update will most likely coincide or be just prior to the launch of the Droid 2 in the middle of this month. That said Verizon has been sort of random with timing these updates and it may be as soon as midnight. Either way don't just sit tight and wait for all the froyo goodness, hit the net and find out how to use the new features such as App2SD so you can be ahead of the curve and wow your friends. Also keep your fingers crossed that they leave in the built in tethering ability so you can share your internet connection with your laptop on the go. :smileyhappy:

Summer is almost over. However you can expect to see an announcement from one of the administration or even employees

Summer is a long way off from being over....

I have seen some reports that it might start hitting the OTA servers starting on August 3, but that was NOT from Verizon...

so time will tell

Like some of y'all are saying, Motorola has said the Droid X will receive the OTA update in late summer. Fall begins September 21st this year, so that means Froyo is coming within 48 days. That doesn't sound too bad to me.

I just got off the phone with VZW trying to fix a problem on my X.  They are pretty sure 2.2 will fix my issue and tell me that it did in fact start rolling out this morning.  It's being sent in batches so as not to overload the Google servers and we should all be on 2.2 by 8/13 or earlier.

If 2.2 does not fix my issue, they will send me a new phone...which even if ordered now, wouldn't ship until 8/18 anyway.  So I wait and see.............

According to the news reports, the rollout starting today is for the ORIGINAL Droid..... the update for the DROID X will be late this month, early next month... again... according to reports that I have been seeing online

I wouldn't know.  I can't buy any apps.  I get a server error in Market Place every time.

Free D/L's are not a problem though.

That is odd you can't buy apps. Have you tried turning off the phone? taking battery out?  You may have to call tech support for furhter help

Do you by any chance NOT have a google gmail account?   I think you must have one in order to purchase apps.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, ok?

Patiently/Impatiently waiting for the release of Android 2.2.

can you even activate your phone if you don't have one?  When I was setting mine up I just put in my gmail account infor and I was fine but it seemed you couldn't get past that step unless you created an account or put in an existing one.

You may be right.  I already had one when I got my X so that never came up when the girl at the Verizon store was setting my phone up.
