I seriously getting annoying to see all these other phones getting this update and some phones I havnt even heard of are getting it!
Its been post several times that Samsung always had a bad habit of never updating their devices, this is one reason i would ever own another one because it took a year and half before they update the last one I had, by time I seen update the device was discontinued...
There are still alot of phones with out 2.3.4, some may have 2.3 but not the current UI and fixes.
Droid charge will have it soon, it has been in the works, there is a stable leak, and they are waitign for final approval before any OTA's. Still planned for this month possibly. (fall regardless).
So saying Samsung has poor support isn't correct. They are updating 4 phones. It is better to have a stable build then a buggy mess which after 6 tests they have. Moterola tried their hand at it and it caused issues, so it better to make sure then rush it. THe last build was very stable with great performance increases as well as 4g stability.

I'm guessing this is your first Samsung phone? Samsung is notorious for slow updates on their US branded phones and when the updates do come, they're far from stable.
Gingerbread would be nice

Hey Houston Heart,
Can you offer anything more specific about where the Gingerbread update is right now or the timeline for the update?
BTW... I've read many of your posts. Thanks for all the information.
Based on the fact that there have a few test builds of 2.3.4 someone is working on it. As far 2.3.5 not sure where that is comming from considering there has not been anything leaked. The bottom line here is no one seems to know or if they do their not talking. To many rumors not enough hard facts.
The most recent GB leak is apparently running well so maybe were not that far away.
2.3.5 is coming from twitter from someone named P3Droid...apparently he's a ROM builber/Modifier...I guess his latest build, 2.3.5 is making the charge run REALLY smooth and as fast as a porsche. Guess we're all WAITING some more. Information I gathered is we will be gettin the 2.3.4 OTA update...DONT KNOW WHEN...and apparently the 2.3.5 will be a leak shortly after.
It would be nice to hear something official... I love this phone... but I can't help but feel like they just don't care.
I'd settle for a quick blurb that it is at least being worked on... an official blurb. Something to set our minds at ease, and let us know that the problems we are all having with this phone are only temporary, and are being fixed with the new OS..
How about a tweet saying: "Sorry, guys, we aren't updating that phone." Then I'd quit worrying about it and go buy something else.

Yeah that is what they are gonna do and possibly lose customers. Remember folks that this is a business and they are in the business to make and take our money. It is easier just to let the people hang out there and wait and hope that they give us the update. Don't worry once the Nexus Prime comes out, the Charge will be a think of the past. (don't get me wrong the charge is still a great phone but the prime specs will blow the charge out of the running.. This is why I believe that verizon and samsung are waiting to give us the update, if at all. Makes no point to try and Turbocharge a Civic when a new Corvette is coming out. LOL) Unfortunately as long as there are people out there that keep buying these new phones every other month, then verizon and Samsung will not support or update old phones. The best way is to buy the phone you like and stick with it, and stop jumping ship everytime a new phone comes out. Show the companies that they have to support and update older phones. You have to hit them where it hurts. I am sure this will get some peoples panties in a bunch, But they only know the truth hurts.

No not my first Samsung. We have both tested and used many Smartphones, Including HTC, Motorola, and Samsung. All have had issues. Motorola has not exactly been quick to fix issues themseves, anad my last Sansung had patches more often. HTC has a tendancy to rush updates leadign to new issues, such as the loss of display issue i ntheir last update in August..
Since the Charge has been out. There has already been 2 updates, EE2, and EE4, to adress some issues, some remaining nissues seem to be for those that went from EE1 to EE4 due to the network bug, and the OTa caused some issues. I do a direct system patch myself on any phone, as OTA's can chance a buggy install, such as what happened with Motorola.
We also know that Gingerbread 2.3.4 has been in the works for the Charge. This is the latest build version (which has the newer UI). There has been more then 5 test builds of it.
So in other words, they are not being lazy, they are not ignoring issues. Just some times peopel want things right away, even if it means rushing it, havign more issues, rather then optimizing it.
Ps3droid did not create the leaks, nor the kernals. 2 of them have recieved the beta builds by being part of the beta, as was I. However they were not to be leaked. Since those units are not flagged you will not recieve any tweaks in the leak builds. All they have done is removed .apk files for preinstalled stuff typially we as users do not want, then they pre-root the kernal.
