2.3.X Removal of Birthday and Anniversary date entry from Contacts

I updated my Droid X to 2.3.3 in July and was stunned to find that Motorola removed the birthday and anniversary fields from the contacts. The field information from Google contacts synchs with the phone, and puts garbage in the fields when displayed. When you edit the contact on the X, the fields are not present to change.

I was so frustrated that I had a friend assist to re-flash my Droid X back to 2.2.1. Now my phone keeps asking me to update to 4.5.605 which I will not do.

I wrote to Motorola to express dissatisfaction with their decision to remove these fields from the contacts. Their response: "If you want to remember dates, use the Calendar."

I checked every other brand of Android phone at Verizon and every one has these fields. I was going to upgrade to the Bionic, and will not because of this blunder!

Is anyone else as incensed as I am that these fields were removed?

Nope ... and don't hold your breath for future updates to re-add it.

yep, a "feature" change that was intorduced in GB ... one of several that seems a bit like going backwards ...  Me more annoyed, not incensed. More annoyed with the auto-power-backup issue after powering off the phone.

I forgot to ask....  with the 4.5.605 update... did they add it back?
