2nd Droid Charge: Mysterious OS Differences

My second Droid Charge has been flawless so far. Interesting thing is that it seems as if I have a slightly different version of the OS on this one. Firmware version shows 2.2.1. Unfortunately, I did not think to look on my previous one. When I got my previous one it went into a forced OS update right out of the box while the salesman was trying to activate it. This latest one did no such thing and claims: "Your system is currently up to date."
Not a lot of things are different about this one, but the most noticeable is when I connect it to my pc. The only option is USB. My other phone gave me two options: connect as USB device or something about acting as a media player.
So (1) I hope this one keeps working flawlessly because I love it and (2) I wish I could explain what was different about the other one besides the sporadic rebooting. Something was different about the OS. Was is behind a rev on Android or too far ahead for some reason?

Eukarote,
Go look at the post named: Uh oh. Go down a few posts and you will see a PHOTO showing all the OS software in my Samsung Charge phone. Match it up with yours.
BTW, my Charge has performed perfectly.

Saw that one. My latest Charge matches perfectly and so far no issues. Thanks!
