Ok, so I just got the 2.2 update with the mobile hotspot and went ahead and used it unaware of that many people are saying it is $20.00 a month fee will I get charged for it now? And is it free or not?
and it let you use it and set it up without agreeing to some terms that stated there were additional charges? i've gotta believe that you had to accept some terms stating that? if you don't use it anymore, i don't think it's be a problem to get vzn to credit the charges. they are pretty good about that.
There is a $20 charge for 2 GB (2,048 MB) of data usage for Internet access using your Smartphone to connect up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices or tether to your notebook.$0.05/MB after allowance. Hope this helps!
Why do verizon charge this as a seperate service and not jsut sell the data usage? What cost is there to Verizon if I want to view the data that I already pay from one device that I already pay for to anther device that I already pay for?

Why??? Because it is their network, infrastructure, sandbox and beachball. Second, it is a revenue stream. Data is King.
Nearly a year ago, VZW during a quarterly conference call stated data brings in $5,000,000,000 a QUARTER. (That's Billion with a B) And part of that is funding an accelerated buildout of the LTE network.
VZW is making a nice profit, stockholders are happy. But much of the revenue is going back into the network. And that is why VZW will surpass the LTE buildout goals for 2011 while ATT will be zipping along like a slug with MAYBE 15 cities being live by Dec31.
The application is free the service is not! It will cost you $20 per month to use as a moble hot spot or $15 per month if you teether it to you computer via usb. When you connect to the 3g mobile hot spot the first time the verizon page will come up and offer you a subscription.
