Very simply when I am in a 3g network I can NEVER receive data with the 4g (CDMA/LTE) turned on. I only recieve data when I switch over to CDMA. Is this considered normal operation until the network and/or software is corrected or is it merely a patch for a phone that is not working properly?
I think that Bionic is an awesome device compared to my Droid, but I am concerned about what is considered normal data service.
After browsing the forums and talking to Verizon customer service at my local Verizon owned store and Verizon tech service, I am uncertain what is normal data sevice in a 3g area. I had no data service for my first five days of ownership. First a local customer service rep told me that the network was down. Tech service told me that the network was working properly and that my phone must be defective. Then a local customer service rep told me that this was verizon's first phone with a sim card and they had encountered unexpected problems with sim cards. I could go on, but I think you can get the picture. I learned many years ago that Verizon reps will tell you anything to give you an answer.
After five days I returned to my local Verizon store and this time a rep told me to change my settings from CDMA/LTE to CDMA and turn on data roaming. The rep told me that he does this to several phones every day and this is normal and claimed he had to do the same thing months ago until HTC fixed their 4g software. He also told that it will be corrected when the new software update comes out in November. I will believe that when it happens, but the phone works fine in a 3g network if it is set to CDMA and when I am in a 4g network I switch it over.
What is normal?
