Anyone installed? Issues?
Installed here early this morning.
No issues noted all day.
According to the update page that is basically the only thing that was corrected with this update...

Well I just did the update a little while ago. I'll admit the keyboard is very responsive now. The lag seems to be gone.
Downloaded early this morning. It is now late afternoon and no problems. My keyboard has always run smoothly and still does. Yes, my fingers are crossed. Why take chances?
i`m in northeast massachusetts and it`s available by checking for an update.
lOOkin good so Far as well on my X B33
My X may be a year old, But she's as good as Gold.!
Seemed a little large for just a keyboard fixed. Never had the issue but the keyboard is reacting nicely.
it just pushed to my phone today at lunch....wow they started 9/22 and it is only just NOW catching up to me? Wow....I know its only to fix the keyboard problem, but maybe....just MAYBE....there is a fix included for the radio problem that was never fixed in the last update. One can hope anyway....
Updates to the OS are pushed in "waves" ... you obviously just happened to somehow be in a later group.
My daughter's download came Friday I think. Mine just came today. Same account, same model phone - go figure.
The keyboard problem was isolated. My daughter, who lives to text, had severe difficulties. I had no problems. My GPS was wacky (as were many), but my daughter's was just fine.
All of these things are pushed in waves, but I'm not exactly sure how that works. In fact, it seems that some people never get these updates pushed to them; they must actually go looking for them.
As an example: GB was pushed out at the end of May, but in June, I was in Morro Bay visiting my Sister-in-law. She had not received anything regarding GB, and was still on Froyo. I directed her in how to look for updates, and she updated to GB.
Now, her daughter (in Berkeley) also has a Droid X. She called me yesterday because she was having some issues with a few apps. Turns out, she was still on Froyo, and had never received any notification of any updates pushed to her phone! Again, I directed her how to look for updates, and her update installed without issue.
And no, neither of them are rooted or power users. Just average smartphone users.
did anyone else notice that this update got rid of the pull-down status/notification bar at the top of the screen? is there a way to fix this/get it back?
Huh ?? No it did not ... the drag-down still functions with this release.
oh!! guess it was just a glitch. turning off and back on brought the pulldown back. thank you!
still pulls down on mine too, just had 2 updates.
This update killed my corporate email sync. Everything I've read says there is no fix.
Downloaded update yesterday. Today it cannot see the SD card on DroidX. Recognizes that apps have been moved to SD, that the SD is partially full (only 5.8G free), but showing notification bar error, "Bland SD card", "SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem."
Have heard anything about this?
fwiw:
i only have music & pics on sd card.
if you read/search, you'll find that a lot of problems with updates have to do with appps on the sd cards.
you'll only get so many reminders after selecting "later" & it will download automatically.
605 was about 28 meg & not as big as gb/150 meg.
gb, 602 were earlier & i'm not sure if 2.2.1 is froyo, so downloading 605 won't get you up to gb.
you can edit your post, upper right corner of your post instead of making 3 separate posts 10 min apart.
this should have been your own post rather than piggybacking on another question.

Called Verizon today and reported the problem. This is not isolated; it has been posted on other sites. It trashes the SD card (can't be re-formatted on the DroidX or the PC). They are sending a replacement 16GB SD card free of charge.
menu key, manage apps then up at the top, what's on sd card, all, running.i don't know.
Obviously due to the current issue, I am not recommending it...
From the home page, press the options button (physical button, far left). Select "Manage Apps". Select an app by pressing on the title (ex. "Adobe Flash Player 10.3"). Middle right is a button called "Move to SD card".
There are other methods and tools that will allow you to Move an application to the SD card.
For now, not recommended.
lisalong72 wrote:So basically, I wouldn't have any apps on my card unless I made the effort to move them there? I've never done any moving of apps. Just normal downloading from the market.
Lisa if you do the update you'll loose your unpaid apps if you don't get an app to save them your paid apps are saved by your google account. if you bought any. an on moving your apps to the sd card once you got the update can free up some memory but on mine i don't have any over on my Sd but then again i don't have a Tonn of Apps. An one's might be getting Tard of me saying this but it does not hurt to do a FR before or after the Update if you so Choose to go on with it. But with all my phones when i get a new update i've come accustom to Doing a Fr that way The Os set's on a New plate sort of speak. Its like eating Today's Dinner you would'nt want to eat on a Dirty Plate from yesterdays meal. You would want a clean plate. to pute you food on.
But i think you'll be ok With the Update i got it on my X an so far it's doing Ok.! B33
Ps Fr = Factorie Reset. if you did'nt know what that meant.
@Lisa -- no, you won't lose any of your apps when/if you upgrade ... you WILL lose them though if you decide do a Factory Reset. Personally, I would just do the upgrade ... thne AFTERWARDS, if you encounter serious enough problems that warrant a FR, then read about the process and how to avoid the issues of doing so ... like make sure you have a list of the APPS you have installed, et al...

there you go again offering up the fr.
you don't even tell the folks that by doing it they have to reload/configure back to how it had been setup.
Sorry BEAR but this makes no sense... Updating the phone to any of the OS updates does NOT wipe out your APPS .. they only get wiped out if you decided to go down the painful path of a FACTORY RESET .... I've gone through FROYO and GB and all latest updates ... never once losing my APPS, nor ever requiring a FR ... I'm just of the camp that if a person is less tech-savy than others, that a FR is very very painful and requires a lot of effort to not only document your APPS (free ones), your Settings, all of your customization, etc ... it will take days to recover the phone. (been there when I DID decide to try a FR just for grins). Of course there are some paid APPS that help with this process .... @Wildman has suggested one ... which escapes me right now.
Bottom line -- an upgrade to the OS will NOT wipe out any APPS.
@Bear -- I did reread your post and hence why I made that statement ..
You wrote: "Lisa if you do the update you'll loose your unpaid apps if you don't get an app to save them your paid apps are saved by your google account. "
So maybe you didn't mean to say that, or I am misreading your intent ... Maybe you meant if she did a FACTORY RESET and not an UPDATE???
either case I think we're all now on the same page.
take care
@Lisa
I would say the best way to see the pictures your looking for is go to the Verizon site were we are at mouse on support once there select device find Droid X an download the Manual Via PDF witch has the phone with the Gingerbread OS on or in it. And the .605 your refering to is the update to the first update that came out on the X an it's to resolve the issue with the Keyboard. But i still think you'll be Ok to get the update. Just make sure you've got a full battery an a good signal. B33
lisalong72:
thanks

i was quoting b33
Lisa you don't have to get it if you don't want to but it's promting you to because its the next Os out. there are good things about Gingerbread but there are also bits an pieces of it that can cause a few minor issues with it but thats how it Rolls. I going to admit i could do without some things on ginger. but there are some of the things that i'm glad it has. but its kind of hard to explain for any of us without actually having our phone there so you can see it for your self you see what i mean. the best way i would say to get a good feel for it is to go to the Verizon store an just Tell one the Reps you want to look at a Droid X 2 as it has basically the same Os an you want to check out the Gingerbread Os an you want some Explenations on it. An how it will benefit by puting it on your phone.
I don't know if this helped or not but this is a good as i can explain others guys on here might be able to give a better analasys on it but in the long run i think having a Live phone with Gingerbread on it an in your hands is going to be the best bet. Ok Take Care
B33
Ok do something for me tell me what system Version you have know. If you are running System Version 4.5.596.MB810 and have Android Version 2.3.3 on your X you have Gingerbread.
An the .605 would just be the update for it.
For the most part, the update turned out to be rather helpful. However, my main issue is with the contact interface. It appears that I am unable to merge any contacts, or even edit particular contacts. Anyone else with the same problem, or maybe a solution to such a predicament?
HAs anyone had a problem with blockbuster on demand not working after the update?

Thanks for posting lah2420!
I would be happy to assist you. Have you tried removing the corporate email account and re-adding the account?
Please let me know how this works out for you.
>I would be happy to assist you. Have you tried removing the corporate email account and re-adding the account?
I had the same problem and removing the corporare email account and re-adding it would NOT work.
This is what I found on Motorola's website:
https://motorola-enterprise.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/67861/~/droid-x---corp-sync-provisioning-errors
Amazingly, Touchdown and Moxier do not have this problem.
Ended up doing a factory reset last night. If only I can get rid of the annoying reminder that keeps asking me to update to Gingerbread...
Speaking of Blockbuster, can it be removed? I really don't need Blockbuster, Madden NFL, some dumb race car game, City ID, and a few other things that seem to come with the phone without me doing anything. I'd really like to get rid of them so it's not taking up space, and might help my phone go faster.
Also, with the new update, it appears that the very bottom bar on the screen (with a contacts, text, and the menu bottom) is stuck. I recall with the previous version, it was optional and there was some way to get it to only pop up if you touched that part of the screen. I don't like how cluttered it looks, and I'd like it gone. Please help! Thanks.
You cannot get rid of that "bloatware" ... Using a 3rd party APP like LPP you can "hide" them, but not uninstall them.
You can change the 1st 3 icons (from the left) by long-pressing on them and change the APP that they launch. You cannot change the far right Icon - the APP Drawer. Again, there are 3rd party APPs out there that can totally change what "blur" delivers to you if you don't like the screen layout/design. Look at Launcher Prop or ADW - and there are others.
good luck
Was offered the download Saturday 10/1, installed along with first time installation of 2.3.3. It has been a DISASTER. Frequent lockups for a minute or more at a time, sometimes black screen, sometimes not. When locked, no inputs are successful, including the shutdown button, so battery removal is required in order to restart. Answering the phone launches the media player, with the music volume seeming to increase. Randomly restarts, twice while a phone call is underway. I plan to start deleting apps, although as most commands take a least 30 seconds to execute, this in itself will be daunting. The worst nightmare I have ever had with any OS, including Windows 1 (b/w).
I should add that battery usage seems to have increased noticeably.
i have the same problem, di dyou figure out a solution? with corporate sync dead on the phone and battery only staying chaged for roughly 2-4hrs without dying
Re: missed calls
Anyone having trouble with missed calls not showing up....at all? I'm getting voicemail alerts but nothing regarding a missed call. No alert, no ringtone...nada.... Been like this since I updated on Sunday afternoon. I get some calls (hopefully most) but i've had two calls go straight to voicemail (one on Monday, one Tuesday) and I'm wondering how many I'm missing when people don't leave a voice mail.
system version 4.5.605.MB810.Verizon.en.US
Android version 2.3.3
sorry - not sure why the double post.
Since update on 10/3 my Droid X drains charge completely in a little over 2 hours UNUSED. Verizon Store ran battery test and it is fine. She said she has 8 similar issue since update yesterday and I need to wait until Verizon sends a new update whenever that is! Called Verizon service rep and he had me load Advanced Task Killer even though I have few apps and never had a problem until update. He also says these problems are just coming to light and I have to wait until Verizon issues another update, again, whenever that is. Now I cannot be away from a charger for more than 2 hours or I am completely out of service. Why put out an update that has these many serious problems? When will update be available? Will I get a credit for downtime due to terrible update.? Isn't anyone telling customer service anything? This is unacceptable!!!
It is funny to me that this 4.5.605 is called keyboard update, becuase previously was unable to notice any problem with the keyboard. Now after this update, when the multi-touch keyboard long press alternate characters slide-to-select method was implimented, it seems that on the decimal point that the fact that there are two rows of characters was overlooked. I am unable to find a way to select the characters in the second row of that pop-up long press menu for the decimal point on the multi-touch keyboard. I have switched to using the swipe keyboard. I do like the new cursor position tool however.
One of my favorite features on this droid phone was the black background with white text, which now seems to be gone. I work outside at night a lot and the black background is great for low light conditions. One of my aviation applications has an option to turn on "reverse display" where black and white are switched. To much light reduces our eyes ability to detect things in low light conditions. If anyone knows of a way to change back to that style, please let me know.
My corporate sync to Exchange Server still works. I did have to wait a while while all of the email and calendar items were re-downloaded. Seems the update deleted all of the existing content. I guess that was easier than trying to rearrange existing data on the phone into a new structure.
OMG What a day!!! Im about ready to throw this thing in one of these wild fires in Texas!!!! I updated this morning... after 3 days of clicking install later, against my better judgement, I finally installed this morning,
BIG MISTAKE! I had no problems whatsoever before. My keyboard was fine, Now.......
My Droid X continues to freeze, I have to keep taking the battery out to restart. Sometimes the keyboard will not even show up when im trying to text.... its just blank at the bottom... if i press where the keys should be... low and behold it will type, so i have to type blind. Holy macaroni....
Someone please help!
Can I uninstall this crappy update and go back to whatever I was using before? I have no problems whatsoever in the past year Ive hads the phone, until today.
Very frustrated,,,,
OOPS- Forgot to mention the fact that now my phone seems to be getting hot.... even while just sitting there and nothing on the screen.....
Plus ive had 2 calls go to voicemail without ringing... i thought it may be coverage area, but i had full bars....
The "hot" to the touch is LIKELY being caused by the phone "searching for a cell tower" .. Many have reported something similar and did *228 call to update the PRL ... this HAS fixed that issue for some. Aside from that :
- No, you cannot back out the update.
- You CAN try the CLEAR CACHE procedure ... many report havinsome/g most issues fixed with that.
- You CAN boot into SAFE MODE to see if any issues go away -- this would suggest you have an APP causing your problem(s)
- Your final step if it really continues to be as bad as you say (and you can't put your finger on a rogue APP), is to do the FACTORY RESET ... For the majority of people with continued issues (not already addressed by APP updates), this is the silver bullet. But read about how to be prepared to do this.. (do a search on this forum for instructions on all this .. or if you can't find it, reply back and we'll point you to the threads.)
Good luck. Let us know if you need more assistance. We're here to help, not get yelled at ... :smileyhappy:
On a factory reset, it is just that so I will lose everything correct? Any Apps, contact, music etc.
But Im backed up all the time so my contacts and textx may still come back?
Thanks
I would recommend that if you are having issues that you try the SEARCH feature on this forum.. GB has been out for over 4 months and most/all of the issues have already been discussed and solutions provided - or at least HELP to resolve them. If you can't find a solution to your specific issue, post a new thread with that 1 issue and we'll see if we can assist you. For some people, the silver bullet has been the (gulp) Factory Reset ... personally I never had to do that - but YMMV ...
Good luck .. and welcome to the group.
Issues? Are you kidding? I am ready to drop kick my previously perfect Droid X right into SF Bay. This is the worst OS upgrade. Avoid it at all costs
the way that new feature (lit buttons) is SUPPOSED to work is that they are supposed to light up (1) for after you unlock the phone from being "black" after some small amount of time in a dark setting, or (2) when/ if the Sensor detects darkness. You can test that after the lights are off and the screen is present, then place your hand over the top border of the actual phone ... There is a Sensor there.
If you're saying the lights stay on ALL the time and never go off, that's a problem ... and you might end up having to go through the Clear Cache process or even a (gulp) Factory Reset ... at least that's what Verizon will liklely direct you to do if you take it to t a store or call them for help.

Have you done a factory reset of the phone? Sometimes a clean wipe and install of the OS clears a lot of these problems.
**NOTE**
a factory reset will wipe the phone of all data and you will need to set the phone back up again. Data on the SD card is usually not affected.
Also a side note
Microsoft never released Windows 1, the first Windows released was Windows 3.0 which was never a wide release, the first main release of windows was 3.1
