4G Network - FALSE ADVERTISING??
rbake
Newbie

I have been using Droid for several years now. In December 2011 I purchased the Droid Bionic for the 4G network VS a complete changeover to the 4S iPhone. If you are contemplating a change let me warn you, that the 4G network is hardly attainable and I reside in a very accessible location only 8 miles from the Pittsburgh International Airport and have never had a connection problem prior.

The 4G is under development so therefore I should be patient and manually toggle between the 4 and 3 when necessary according to Verizon! As it turns out that's all I do IF I want to try and utilize the 4G network. I have taken the Bionic back to Verizon 2x RE this, and have basically been advised "deal with it" the Verizon 4G network is under development! If I had known what i know now, I would have went with the 4S iPhone and saved myself the aggravation. Any feedback is appreciated.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Unlike T-Mobile and AT&T, Verizon has to build totally new base stations for LTE (as it is totally different than CDMA). Overall they really do have the best network in the United States. By the end of 2013, they will have their entire 3G coverage area covered by LTE.

They plan to cover all of the continental U.S. by the end of this year I believe. May be 2013 tho...hmm maybe thats why all phones require data packages?? Just saiyan

They are actually seeming to want to go global. They have dropped 2 pipelines One in Europe and one in Asia. Pretty bold to do it. If they can pull it off when the dust clears other carriers around the world would be in trouble.

This 4G availability is just like FIOS.  I am in a Urban area and constantly jump out of 4G into 3G. I get " network unavailable try again" errors all the time with facebook and youtube. Yet this bionic boasts the best phone to run social networks, HA!! My droid X ran circles around this bionic. I have picture upload failures at a 50% fail rate.  4G right now is horrible, and yes I understand it is under construction. Well stop advertising like its the greatest thing, " so 40 seconds ago" Ha Ha Ha!!  I know thats another service but all the 4G comercials booast it is so much better. Well if 2013 it will be final dont say its awesome now. I wish I kept my droid x now.   Just like FIOS lightning fast yet everywhere I have moved it isnt available.  Verizon loves to advertise the latest and greatest before it actually is the greatest.  very dissapointed and I regret the upgrade. I would have waited.  To think I talked 3 friends into Bionics over Iphones.  I'm gonna get flack for that if they experience what I have!!!  At this point I'm telling people dont go 4G, wait!!!!
