50% of calls go straight to voicemail

About half of the calls coming into my wife's Droid X go straight to voicemail without any ringing/vibrating on her end.

Please note this is not a "not ringining - only vibrate" issue.

My wife and I both have Droid Xs with all the current updates in place.  My phone is working fine.   A few people told my wife they've been trying to call her but her calls go straight to voicemail or rings on their end and then goes to voicemail.  Her phone does not ring or vibrate.  I called her using my Droid X and our home land line.  Occasionally the calls would go through and her phone would ring.  Other times the phone would not ring or vibrate.  There wouldn't even be a missed call notification or any sort of indication in the phone call log.

*  She's pulling full bars and 3G

*  I tried turning the phone off, pulling the battery and inserting it after a minute.  No luck.

* Turned airplane mode on and off.  No luck.

Any suggestions?

Check the contacts that go straight to voicemail and make sure  the "send calls straight to voicemail" is not checked. In order to find this setting you must check the "edit contact", and you will find this setting under "additional info".

Hi Dirk.  Thanks for your response.

Late last night I played around with her phone.  I discovered, that in addition to the incoming call problem, she was having the same problem when she made outgoing calls from her phone.  Some would go through and some wouldn't. This must be a bigger issue than a glitch with contacts.

What I did was:

*228 option 1 to activate the phone.  Nothing changed.  Problem remained.

then I tired:

*228 option 2 which does something with the cell towers.  I tried her phone this morning and was able to place 3 calls and receive three calls.  I'm hoping the issue has been fixed.  We live in California and we were on vacation in NYC over the holiday.  I suspect her phone had a glitch and didn't update to the local towers?  Just a thought ... I'll let you know how it goes.
