6 Weeks left on Droid 1 Why no upgrade deals from Verizon?

Hi, On other forums related to Droid phones, many people have gotten emails offering early upgrades for the Droid 1. I believe this offer expires on 8/31.

Why haven't I gotten one of these emails. My contract runs out on 9/17 and I want to go ahead an order the X to get on the shipping lists.

Thanks for any responses.

If your contract expires this year, you can upgrade to the Droid at the 2-year price now. Call 1-800-922-0204 and inform them what you want to do. Good luck! I ordered my X yesterday, and I'm also coming from a Droid 1.

After talking to Techs before Droid X was realeased about how this deal worked, originally it was intended for individuals not on a Smart Phone plan, they seem to be giving incentives to upgrade to a Smart Phone and since you are already on a smart phone the chance of getting the discount is more in the CS hands, I know individuals that was informed the same information about "Not Being A SmartPhone User" but some was allowed to still upgrade and other was not.. Like BassPro said, give CS a call and see what happens.

Wish you luck...

my wife and I did not have smart phones they convinced us and she got an LG Ally for $0 and I got a Droid x for $50

tey even tossed in a a LG case and a droid x car dock. I did the math the extra data service is over 1400.00 for the 24month contract.

How did you get that deal???? My contract has been up since April, 3 lines, no smartphones, and VZW hasn't offered me anything to upgrade. Looking at the X and/or 2, but a little concerned by the "bugs"....

well it all started with a bad sales guy, My wife and I went to the Verizon store and I was inquiring about switching to Smartphones.

The sales guy said he was busy, My wife turns around and the guy is standing thier watching the parking lot with his arms crossed rolling his eyes at her, she got a little **bleep** since he was not busy at all. I went home and decided to use a phone sales rep to buy the new phones.

I happend to mention my experience to the sales rep and they wanted to know what store.  After that I they decided to help me get the new phones.  Now that's Customer service and the reason I'm still with them after 16years :smileyhappy:

For every person you see complaining about a problem, there are 1000 people with no problems. Yes, the is a chance that you might get one with a problem, but the chances are better to get one that works for you.

Just something to think about. :smileyvery-happy:

Well, after a visit to a couple of stores plus getting a PM from a Verizon rep on this site, I was given a call and was told that they would do the best to help me out. They offered and I accepted the X for 24 months for $199 plus they gave me overnight shipping. I couldn't be happier with Verizon customer service. I always like a deal but I don't compromise my integrety during the deal; I treat them as I would like to be treated. In this case both parties are happy so the deal was good.

I had a Blackberry Storm and mine went on the fritz.  It wasn't booting up and it would get stuck and make constant calls to the last number I had either called or had called me.  It was nuts.  Of course, my warranty had expired the month previous to all this happening.  Ugh!  The CS people I had talked to helped me out big time and changed my upgrade date from October 2010 to July 2010 so that I could get another phone.  I ordered my Droid X online and with the new every 2 discount I only paid $99 for mine.  I also got the car charger and dock for the car as well and I love it!  I am totally loving this Droid X phone.  It does so much more than my Blackberry ever did and it's much faster to respond to stuff, even the browser responds and loads twice as fast.  I have been with Verizon for about 5 years or so, almost left once and they helped me out with a huge bill (thanks to my ex and his father.)  They have been great to me!

I have an LG Voyager, and I hate it.  I've been anxiously waiting till I can get the discounted upgrade which happens for me on Sept 3.  I've gotten no offer for an earlier upgrade.  I went into my local Verizon store on Saturday and asked about upgrading now.  I was told if I upgraded now I would lose my $100 upgrade allowance PLUS have to pay a $20 early upgrade fee.  Somehow I don't qualify, so I guess I'll wait 3 more weeks and hope there are still Droids in stock.

Sorry I did not respond before. My contract runs out in Nov 10 and Verizon shows the earliest date to upgrade as Sept. 17. No hanky panky going on; just the normal flow of things.

How can your contract end in 6 weeks when the original Moto Droid wasn't released until Nov 6th of 2009?  Even if you bought it at the 1 year price your contract would end no sooner than Nov 5th 2010.

I have never had a bad experience at a verizon store.  I had a new every two discount that didn't go into effect until 8/2.  I could upgrade prior to that but the droid x would be $100 cheaper if I upgraded on 8/2.  They wouldn't do it early either because I tried to get the X when 7/15 release date came around.  Had to wait two weeks to order and then another week to wait on the shipping of the phone.

OK, time for an update. After reporting all the good customer service from Verizon and that I had ordered the X, reality set in today. I had been told that the X would be shipped on 8/16 to be delivered on 8/17. Fed Ex never made it today and I did not get a shipping confirmation with a tracking number. Don't know what the problem is but am on the same wait and hope that many others are experiencing. Will post update in the next day or so if there is news.

Surprise, surprise, the original Droid is showing up on the Verizon site again according to Brighthand Forum.
