Press the camera icon on the sixth homepage (beneath the window in the center of the screen). This will open the stock camera at 8MP default.
You can't ... it changed in GB .. It gets reset at reboot of the phone to W/S. If it is a feature requirement for you, I would seriously look at other APPS ... there are many Camera APPS .... Vignette happens to be the one I use .. very very customizable.
I am not sure this is a question?? The camera icon you speak of will open camera by default but the resolution is determined by what you choose the camera resolution to be it does not automatically change to 8mp if you change it to another resolution..
No idea what you are talking about, hifromd11. There is no camera icon on my 6th (?) home screen, as I have set up my screens the way I want them. In any case, since Gingerbread, the default setting for the stock camera app is WideScreen (5MP), not 8MP, regardless of what you set it at. Every time you reboot, it resets to that WS.

You are right Cody, since I use the wide version I never noticed that GB defaults it to wide after a reboot... Wonder why they configured it like that? Oh well Vignette and Camera 360 are my picks when it comes to a replacement..
It's kind of clunky, but the Motorola Picture Frame Plus widget will open the camera in 8MP setting every time.
An FYI I came across today for those using the stock camera app.If you are taking multiple photos....the setting changes back to widescreen after a reboot (as discussed), OR if you connect your phone to a computer via usb.I set my camera to 8MP and took photos. Uploaded them to my pc. Went back and took more photos (without checking the setting). Uploaded these photos and was surprised to learn that the camera had reverted to the widescreen setting. Each time I connected the usb cable, the same thing.Be aware to re-set your camera setting each time you connect to a usb.
Them grimlins in thar camera that's making you be on you toe's. an i might have to check out them camera apps Cody wildman wich is better to go with the free one or the paid if its available. Thanks B33
I really like Vignette ... has a LOT of really nice features and is very customizable.. Try the free version for a while just to test it.
