A NEW UPDATE (12/8/10)

This morning when I turned on my phone there was a new update.

It had something to do with Goggle and a couple of other things.

On my main page I got a new icon that say Goggle Search BUT up at the top

where the time, 3G network symbol, battery level and the strength meter there is a

NEW  ICON, it is a circle with something in the middle that I cannot make out what it is.

So my questions are: what is this symbol and what did this update do for my phone?

EDIT: The circle has 2 arrows in it showing like something is running? Or connected?

I have checked the online manual and these are called STATUS INDICATORS. And the

manual DOES NOT show a circle with 2 arrows in it.

The circle with arrows stands for the sync indicator.

Google (gmail, contacts, calendar), facebook, etc. Whatever is listed under Settings > accounts & sync or something like that depending on your phone.

Maybe I should clarify. It is still early here. LOL Whenever you see the symbol in your status bar, your phone is actively syncing those accounts ^^^ from the phone to the web server of each account or vice versa. I usually see it after the mobile network or wifi connection as been off for a while.

Jeez! The mental pistons really aren't firing well this morning!

The sync icon has been on the Motorola Droid since day one. You can also find it on the power control widget.

My ex-wife and I have had the 2 phone since April, and NOT once has the sync indicator been on the top of the screen. The only place we have seen it is when you go into accounts and it will say if your accounts are in sync.

Today is the first day that symbol has shown up there, if had been there any earlier I would have asked about.

So, just because YOUR brain is not first gear it doesn't mean that every else's isn't. Mine is always running at top speed.

But I appreciate your responses anyway.

It may not have been in status bar (maybe part of the need for the update), however it was always a button on the power control widget.

Ann, yes you are right.
Please do not think that I do not appreciate your help, because I really do appreciate and need it to help us with our phones!
Sometime emails/posts/im's, the meanings of what is said sometimes gets lost. so do not think we are not appreciative of anybodys help!!!!

yeah, it's been in the notification bar the whole time but it's easy to miss unless you're looking at the phone a lot.  Most people notice it when they first set up their phone during the initial sync

The jeez comment was always meant to be my mental slap to the head for myself that I couldn't put all the information all in one post instead of three of them. There was nothing ever against you. Everything was written in what I hoped was a neutral tone. With the exception of the Jeez comment of course.
