A few questions about the Charge

I just picked up a Charge yesterday coming from HTC Incredible and I have a few questions. Figured I'd try hear before calling support.
1) I noticed that my contacts pictures show from facebook when looking at the contact. If that person calls me the picture doesn't show up. Can that be fixed or am I missing something?
2) Usually on all pre 3G Droids when you turned wifi on the 3G icon went away. I've noticed that the 4G icon stays on, no lights are flashing but I'd think it would go off. I thought it did once.
3) I was out at the Zoo today and noticed that the charge had a very hard time showing a data signal. When we got there no issues. We were in the zoo for a bit before I checked the phone and suddenly it disappeared no 4G, 3G or 1x and I had 1 to 4 bars depending on the area. I was getting calls no problem. When we got back to leave the phone still showed nothing. I restarted the phone (did once while in the zoo) and data came back. Is this typical of the Charge or ? I do have the juicebar application installed, which I had on the Incredible.
4) I had this issue when I got the original Moto Droid. The stock email app for my personal domain I use via IMAP would show new email all the time. So for instance if I have 20 emails and read them all. The next the phone goes to check email it says I have 20 unread emails or 20 plus what ever new. I may need to contact Samsung on this. The Incredilble didn't have this issue but that's because it was using HTCs mail application.
5) Can you mark all email read at once in the stock email, not the gmail app?
6) Has anyone noticed that the you can be on a call (in a 4G area) and also surf, check email, etc. I thought the Thunderbolt was the only 4G that had 2 radios in it to allow that.

For your question number 2, on my Charge the 3G/4G indicator goes off when I am connected to WiFi. If I just have WiFi on but am not actually connected the 3G/4G stays on. I can toggle WiFi on and off at my house where I have the automatic connection to WiFi and the 4G indicator goes on and off accordingly a few seconds later. I talked to tech support and they said the phone cannot do both WiFi and 3G or 4G at the same time, so they should go off. Maybe you are not truly connected to the WiFi which is why your data indicator stays on?

I'm on wifi I verified it's grabbing the IP and my router shows it. I'll try testing it in the morning again. I thought yesterday it worked fine but today it seemed not to.

The wifi & 4g is working. Not sure why part of yesterday it was doing that but so far today everytime it has worked.
With the 4g icon disappearing it happened again. The only thing I thought of was juice defender is the problem. Not sure if they have it working properly with the LTE devices. With my incredible it worked and did save on battery. It seems when that is running it has a problem bringing the data connection back after it's been in sleep mode per say.

I saw on another thread somewhere that juice defender was causing network problems with the Charge.

Appears issue #2 was a fluke. Issues #3 is a issue with Juice Defender and the Charge.
I opened up a ticket about my email issue. Still nothing on the rest.

Arius1,
Hi there! I'm glad most of the questions you have here have been answered. Great job! LTE/4G allows for simultaneous voice and data for all 4G cell phones. It's not yet in all areas, but most. And will be available in all areas as we launch 4G in more places!
For Facebook pictures, I've seen that on my phone after I logged into Facebook the first time. Is it still an issue? I would try to sign out of Facebook, power cycle and sign back into the app. If it's syncing the contacts, there is a connection between Facebook and the phone. However, Facebook is not pushing the pictures to the phone. Are the pictures showing for your standard contacts that you set?
Let me know the progress in here.
Thank you!

Hi AdamE,
I found the problem with Facebook. It seems the charge has it's own version of Facebook on the phone like HTC phones do. That is the one that actually pulls the contacts to show up when calling. If you do the Facebook app from the android market it will sync the contacts but those doesn't show up when you make a call. What's even more odd is when you look at the contacts it shows a "g" for google but the little "f" for facebook symbol only shows when you use the built in samsung facebook account.
The other piece that I don't like is the samsung facebook integration you have to tell it to sync all contacts or select the ones you want. Once you select let's say 15 contacts you can go back to modify it you just have to delete the account and start over. So I had to tell it to select all and just deal with contacts that I wouldn't really use in my phone for that purposes.
Where the facebook app for android says sync all, non or contacts already on the phone. Which I selected already on the phone and it worked great but it doesn't show the picture when calling.

Your answer implies that when the Charge is used in a 3G area that simultaneous calling and getting data is NOT possible. Is this correct? Just asking...

My phone is in a 4G area the whole time so I can't say. I would venture yes because it's using the CDMA technology still like any other phone. The 4G phones from what I understand have 2 radios LTE/4G and the CDMA so when your in a 4G area you can't do both. Think of like being near a wifi spot and having wifi on now. You can talk and surf since the you have a secondary internet connection.
Right now LTE is data only. Down the road it could be used for voice and data simultaneously.
