A red triangle with an exclamation point in my messaging

Earlier a red triangle with an exclamation point appeared in my messaging, on two messages, after I had sent a reply and then turned my phone entirely off. When I turned it back on the notifications at the top said something like two messages need to be sent. When I tapped it I was simply taken to the messaging. Nothing else happened and nothing I've done makes them disappear. I've turned it off and on several times. Please help. Thanks!
