Access contacts while in a call?

I feel stupid, I'm not sure if it's me or the bionic.  When I'm in a call I can't seem to access my contacts to look up info.

If you hit the "home" button, you should be able to go into the app drawer and access your contacts in that way. There may be an easier way, but that should work.

I did this way. Apart form the dialer appl on the home screen, I also have "contact"s application shortcut on the home screen. When I am on a call, I hit the home button and open the contacts to see the numbers.
