Android 2.1 - Be Cool Verizon

Okay, for the past few years I've consider Verizon a BREAKER of good phones by crippling them and forcing people to use Verizon only services. This only led to people, in the case of Motorola, to get Motorola phone tools, and some other apps and "REPAIR" their phones so that they could actually work how they were designed to work in the first place. In this case, I'm referring to simply copying photos or MP3s to a Memory Card.
So, with the DROID, Verizon's QUICK response to user's complaints right after the Droid came out, I believe Verizon has turned over a new leaf... GOOD FOR YOU after BLOWING THE IPHONE DEAL which would have put AT&T out of business!
So, how cool are you? Just tell us, WHEN you'll update our Droids to Android 2.1. I'll wait a month if I have to.
We see hacked droids running it right now, so, don't say it cannot be done.
Thanks, and waiting to hear from you.

How do you expect 2.1 To come out if Google hasn't even distributed the APK for 2.1?
You make it sound like Verizon is in charge of this, and they're not. At least do us the favor by doing your research first.
Edit: The only reason Droid's are hacked with 2.1 is because there are ways to root the Droid. And, 2.1 Was put on them because the APK was leaked after the NexusOne had been running around somewhere.
FYI you know when the latest update is out when www.android.com tells you. Really helps if you actually read/did research before all of this. Would have made you look less impatient.
Edit 2: THOUGH at the press confrence today at Google, they said they will be distributing 2.1 APK's "Within the next couple of days." So I wouldn't be surprised if the Android site changes in the next day or two.

actually they didn't blow the iphone deal. they declined the apple offer to carry the iphone first because apple wanted too much control. if i buy a phone from a wireless company i expect to jump through one hoop to get my problem fixed. i would be really upset to be on hold with one company for an hour only to find out that i am talking to the wrong company, so now i have to go to the other company and hold for who knows how long.
as for the 2.1 working on rooted droids.....its just that, the updates are working on ROOTED droids. the 2.1 was also altered to work on the droid and still there are some features that dont work because they only apply to the nexus.
if takes a while to make sure 2.1 works properly on the droid then i say take your time, the last thing this board needs are 50 posts a day complaining the about the same thing: HELP! MY DROID NO LONGER WORKS AFTER THE 2.1 UPDATE. and this is why they should not tell us when it is coming out because we need to avoid: VERIZON LIES, THEY SAID THE UPDATE WAS GOING TO BE OUT BY NOW, THEY ARE RIPPING US OFF!!!!

It never ceases to amaze me how rude some people can be on forums.
Thanks so much for your kindness and understanding.
I wish you the best and hope this world provides everything that is coming to you.
Namaste.

I didn't see anyone being rude. I only saw people disagree with you.

I agree there was no rudeness and willanaya makes a good point. I've participated in many forums and there are always tons of duplicate posts. Makes it more difficult for members who actually search before posting since they have to wade through all the extraneous posts.

Agreed. OP It's not that we're being rude, I don't believe I was. It's just that you should entirely do a little bit more research prior to posting. The forums is a way to help people. We're not the all knowing fountain of knowledge and it gets a litle tiring seeing the repetative threads.
@Zehan, yep.
@Willanya, Preciesly. Couldn't agree more.

It's been my experience that forum posters are impatient with people who simply ask a question that has already been answered. I'm not saying you shouldn't ask. What I am saying is why do they feel a need to answer it. If its been asked and answered then don't bother posting a response. Let the poster find it on his own or simply say they have not come out with a date as of yet or simply post a link to the answer. I tend to agree with you for the most part. If anything, some posters just lack tact.
If you think about it. Every question has an answer somewhere on the internet. Are we to search endlessly for this answer or post the question on a board where you think you might get a quick response.

I agree with you in part. I see no need in responding to a post simply to berate or embarrass the OP. However, I think it's perfectly acceptable to notify the OP that the issue has been "asked and answered". Many of the questions that are asked are from first time (and often one time) posters who do not realize that there IS a search function. I think that it's only beneficial to the OP to point that fact out. Maybe the next time they have a question they will be able to find a solution quicker and not have to wait for supitsmike, willanya, BKfist, GreatOne, fezzik, ivory, etal to answer their question. so that he/she may use it in the future.
That said, If I respond to an "asked and answered", post I always like to give someone a solution or at least and attempt at one, while nudging them in the direction of the search function. There is never a need for flaming, simply because someone asked a question.

You'd be surprised how much the top contrubutors answer the same questions, and usually without reminding the OP about the search function. SuzyQ uses macros to answer these questions so she doesn't have to type them over and over again. I myself have never flamed an OP just for asking an answered question, and agree that it's wrong to do so. In that case it's better to just say nothing at all.
Usually what people see as flaming or trolling is really just that poster's opinion. Some people get offended when someone speaks up with an opposing view, so they accuse the dissenting poster of flaming, trolling, or (my favorite) being an "undercover" Verizon employee. They call them rude, or fanboys, or whatever else they can say to discredit them without actually providing a thought out argument. Personally I try to be polite most of the time, and my posts are usually more helpful than not.
There ARE,however, some situations where some of us top posters just can't resist the need to make fun of a poster who is acting particularly obnoxious or bull-headed. These are the ones who usually post one or two messages which are more often than not just a rant about how terrible Verizon is and how they were cheated, stolen from, or lied to. On rare occasions I actually agree with some of these posters, but most of the time they're so blatantly wrong that I and a few others can't resist teasing them a little. Call it rude if you want but when you read/answer the same questions day after day, you have to find your fun somewhere.

I was trying to stay away from this thread as much as possible. But I agree with PPC, and Zehan.
What you need to understand is that it's certaintly quicker to just do a "Will 2.1 come to the Droid" Google search as opposed to registering for a completely new account on a forums that you're going to post a total of two (2) times. One to get your question answered, and two, to get snippy when someone does it with a little lip.
To me it takes certain audacity to expect help that you could have given yourself, from someone that you think is going to be nice about it.
Just my opinion.

As of yesterday, Motorola announced the Droid will be updated to 2.1.
Also, Adobe announced the Droid will be updated with Flash 10.1.
So rest assured, damooser. You made a wise choice with the Droid. Though your concerns are well founded, unlike other times, VZW has jumped completely behind supporting the Droid and the Android OS.
