Android 2.1 release date for droid?

Seems like a bad time to need a phone. Can't wait for Nexus1, want 2.1 OS, and hear that Motorola (and Verizon) are updating both Droid hardware and OS for release "soon". Any idea when?

There really isn't ever an official release date. Google releases the APK, and when it's for stock UI it's often times dictated by them. Not by Motorola because it's not...wel...their UI, or by Verizon because they have nothing to deal with it at all. Aside from maybe sending out the OTA.

While they may not have any development to do, Verizon distributes the OTA and from my past experience with them as a product vendor, I know they have a test/validation process they put all phones and updates through before they will release it to their customers.  If there is a problem with 2.1, either compatibility with Droid or their network, customers will blame Verizon first.

Verizon views their additional testing of the phones with their network as part of their added value.

You know after thinking about it, It kind of dawned on me that this may have occured. Yeah, I could see how the testing on their network would help.

**bleep**. does verizon want to keep its android customers we already get overcharged compared to any other company so give us out **bleep** update already.... this is lame....... get ur crap together verizon it seems like ur going down hill especially when i have not had 3g service for over a week cuz ur having problems out here which is **bleep**.... i have a feeling ur going to loose a lot of android customers which just about half of your users..... get it together........ and stop having your people on the phone be **bleep** im sick of it..... i will get a great person that will help me and then i get an **bleep** that wont help and just hangs up cuz i cant understand.. we are so impatient right now im almost willing to go to t mobile to get nexus one so i can get 2.1 even though u guys will have it in a month or so ur price will probably be crazy. thats why we pay ur outrageous prices so we get the best...... well for the first time i dont think ur the best. if i went to t mobile my bill would be $30 cheaper and its about the same plan i have now, like i said get ur **bleep** together....................................................

SeaRun, quick question.  Why is it that you HAVE to have 2.1 right now?  Get a Droid, it has 2.01, which works wonderfully.  2.1 will appear in a couple months, life will be good.

"ur going to loose a lot of android customers which just about half of your users"

Let's see-- 1.5 million android users

                      80 million users

                     HALF?
