Really not sure where you heard that rumor, but that is exactly what it is...a rumor. The Droid X is not getting any update right now. It is not due to be out until sometime late summer......early September is how Motorola has it scheduled.
Perhaps you were seeing information about the Droid or Droid 2.

Yeah, I think Jonnyboy was talking about the Droid or Droid 2 as well.
I think the real question is why should we be forced to wait?
If Android 2.2 is good enough for Droid 1 and Droid 2, then why is Droid X left out in the cold with a vague date of "late summer".
When I bought my DX I was told this smart phone was to be the "Flag Ship" of the Android fleet... so to speak. Personally, I feel like all us DX users are sitting in the inflatable dingy behind the cruise ship.
Come on Big Red. Prove you are the phone company worth the big bucks ($213 to be exact) I pay you every month.
Give DX Android 2.2 now, not next week, and certainly not the vague term of "late summer".

Nice cut and paste job.
I felt it belonged in both places, so I just reposted my previous comments.
There are already reported problems with 2.2 on the Droid 2. Do you want those problems on your X?
I'll wait for all the bugs to be worked out.
