Sorry, I was charged on my data pack everytime they sent an alert, I don't know how to to get rid of them.

OK, this is really not making much sense -- Apps get downloaded via MARKET to your Phone. Unless you set each individual APP to "Automatically Download/Install", the ONLY thing you should see is a Notification in the top bar that you have an APP available for download. You have to go to Market to get the APP(s). And of course, all of your Downloads are over your 3G Data Network -- UNLESS YOU TURN ON WiFi -- with WiFi ON, all downloads do NOT get charged against your Data Plan. The "Alert" you see in itself does not use that much data - it is only a 1-time notification. I suppose you COULD turn off all downloads so that they ONLY occur over WiFi, but frankly this may introduce other annoyances for your general use of the phone. I mean, it's a SmartPhone and uses DATA after all.
To do this : Menu / Settings / Battery & Data Manager / Data Saver > turn this ON ... read through the notes on that screen about what it effects.
