It was announced that this would be pushed by Mid-September, it's now the end of October and I still haven't had the update. So when is this coming? Android 2.2 is now on all the other Android based phones, why not the Droid X?

Try and manual check for the update on your phone.
Is it possible you have the update and aren't aware of it? Does your phone still show "Android Version 2.1"?
