Hello, I am in desperate help with text messaging - Handcent. I currently have a HTC droid incredible. I have Verizon and my family plan includes 1400 minutes, and no text messages. I'm gonna have unlimited data for my droid pretty soon. Since I don't have any text messagin plans I was wondering if Handcent SMS will work without any charges per SMS I dont want handcent to pop up on my bill for sending, recieving messages. If i send a message through handcent will that take up data instead of text messaging because that's what I need.

No Handsent is just a Software replacement for messaging on your phone you will be subject to all text messaging fees that go with it.
I would like to suggest the Family Text and Plan to go with your family share I believe it's only $20 a month extra for all lines on the Family share to have unlimited text. anyways. Good Luck.

FYI: Thats Carrier Charges, You will not recieve a bill from Handsent ever. You can give them a donation for their great product and I for one have done that but they Ignore you and don't respond to your emails so consider that. It is a great product however.
Enjoy

There is Google Talk loaded on Android phones that is an IM system that uses data only for sending messages and don't count as a text message through the carrier. It is the only way I can message my brother since he doesn't use text message at all.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

So you're saying if I use Google Voice and I have unlimited data for my Droid that I send a text message It won't take it as a text message but as a Data usage?
Basically it's unlimited texting if you have unlimited data am I right?

Someone mentioned google talk but I think that is only google messaging. When I run google talk I just see gmail accounts to contact.
Google voice is close to what you want. It will route your text and phone calls through the internet so you don't use any minutes for phone or texting the only thing is you would choose a different number than your current mobile number and give that out for texting and phone if you chose. That may or may not be a problem for you. It is actually cool because you can search for available numbers by name or number, like ending in abcdef or anywhere in the number.
GV also records voice mail and sends as text message (translated) and email (recorded message.)
Give it a try.
