Any guesses when Gingerbread 2.3 will come to the DX?

Not that it matters a ton as Motorola's "Application Platform" aka "NinjaBlur" will mask a lot of the changes like the black notification bar, keyboard (though I'm using the Gingerbread keyboard anyway) and so on. But the latest OS is good to have. Especially since Gingerbread processes better giving us speed boosts and battery life improvements.

Any guesses when we'll see it? Some guesses I've seen are March or May, saw one say "Summer". Motorola promised Froyo for the X "late Summer" and sure enough on the LAST day of Summer Froyo hit. Moto has yet to even plot an estimated timeline for Gingerbread for any of their Android devices, which might not be a good sign.

What you guys think?

It's hard to give any kind of guess.  VZW and Motorola have their eyes set on new devices, even rumors of the Droid X2 are surfacing.  With this in mind, any kind of update that we get is going to be more of an after thought.  Sure we will probably see 2.3 on the Droid X, but it's more likely new release phones will get it before us.

My guess is our Droid X's won't see gingerbread.   This is just my opinion but my reasoning is the  phones to be released soon will get it, maybe ever released with it.  By the time we're in line to get it, our X's will be a year old and Moto/Verizon won't want the headache that an OS update brings.

I'm afraid if you have your heart set on Gingerbread, be preparred to upgrade your phone.  Right now I would be looking at the Bionic, but I probably won't be getting it because 4G LTE won't be in Honolulu 'til later, (It's only and the Honolulu Airport) and I figure why get an LTE phone when you can't take advantage of it.  By the time Hawaii has LTE coverage, I'll get the Droid Viper.

Typically there is a 6 to 9 month lag before a new android os makes it to existing phones. Motorola is pretty good about getting 1 to 2 new releases to their phones, so I'm site you'll awe out ay some point.
