Anyone know how, or know of a site that provides instructions on how to uninstall Froyo?

Good Morning Everyone!

I would greatly appreciate help on this ...I was prompted with software update last night for the 2.2 Google software. After using the phone for a few hours, it was clear that the previous software (2.1 update1) was much more stable and just preferrable. Much like everyone else, I was anxiously awaiting this release and it is quite dissapointing. I like the phone, but if I am stuck with the 2.2 software I may just toss the phone and buy something else without Android software.

Called VZW c/s and was told it was not recommended and cannot help me restore the previous software. I am sure there is something out there that shows me how to uninstall 2.2, or restore the phone to a previous software version ...but since everyone is such a fan of 2.2, I am not finding a website to show me how, only websites talking about how great this software supposedly is :smileyhappy:

Thank you in advance, hope everyone reading this has a great day!!!

i'm not positive....but if you do a factory reset i believe it will reset with 2.1???? well it used to be unders settings->security...but now it's not there???? you can search how to do a factory reset and try that, but you'll have to set EVERYTHING back up on the phone. you will lose everything.

yeah....i wanted to give you instructions and realized it wasn't there!!! lol.....you can do it manually somehow. if you figure it out could you post a new thread as i'm sure a handful of people will have issues and need to do it and will then realize it is no longer an option in settings.

It appears they moved it to settings > SD & phone storage.  But if you tap it, the phone tells you it doesn't erase system software and bundled apps.

What was your issue.  Why was it "just preferable" ?

There are just several changes I am not a fan of, and SEVERAL errors/bugs I am experiencing. I am sure it has neat enhancements I am not even aware of, but with the previous software was more basic ...not a fan of the music icon changing to a light green, or the Droid waiving at me when I make a call. There are several new pre installed apps which are uncessary and not wanted, the string of text messages display has changed ...the box to type in messaging is smaller and the send/attachment button just seems like it they are in the way, the buttons on the symbols keyboard have moved around a bit (hate that being such a frequent texter)

Battery life didnt improve at all (may have not been an improvement that came along with the update) the browser speed is pretty much the same on 3G and WiFi as it was on 2.1 update1, not seeing this Flash player that has been hyped up so much, although I kill my internet session thru ATK, when opening the browser again it is still at the last page I was at before exiting, scrolling thru the app drawer now lags, scrolling thru contacts now lags, pressing the lock button up top does not light up the screen as quickly, so I press is again thinking I didnt press it hard enough then it flickers on and off, G-Mail errors out when loading conversations, all the pics i take are blurry even after I allow the focus to kick in, many apps force close frequently, receive a force close error for every MMS I receive, the YouTube widget now displays recommended/popular videos which I imagine drains the battery (could just remove I suppose since pressing the search icon does not take me to the YouTube app anymore), I am receiving AOL email only once although I have recd about 8 this morning, saved pdf's take quite some time to load, when the phone is locked I can still scroll through music but the music icon/album artwork display seems either out of place, or the slider to unlock the phone seems higher on the screen making it look like a badly installed app,

Why is News and Stocks set up to Sync?

I have already did a reset on the phone after uninstalling all third party apps and updating roaming and whatever option 1 is after dialing *228 but pretty much the same issues ...

I dont know, seems like Google's intent with this update was to make the software look 'prettier' (for lack of better term) but much like 2.1 on the Droid 1, it killed the overall performance of the phone. Maybe they will come out with a 2.2 update1 like they did with 2.1 ...but I do not want to stick around waiting for it.

Was already offered a 'like-new' replacement but we all know what that actually means ...a phone that didnt work for someone else but may work for you! haha.

If it isnt broke, dont fix it!

i've heard the replacements already have 2.2 on the anyway. but fyi, i've had great experiences with the certified preowned models they issue as replacements. i buy those when i don't have an available upgrade (they are about half price of retail) and trust me, they are every bit as good as a new one. you have the same chance of getting a lemon with a new one than a refurb....if that's the route you end up goin. just confirm that it will actually still be 2.1 because like i said, i heard the refurbs already have 2.2???

I have not had that same fortune ...this is my 2nd HTC incredible already and will most likely have a 3rd one coming but yes, I have heard the same thing from Tech Support, that all replacements have 2.2 on them already. Looks like we are {word filter avoidance}

Remove 2.2? That's like getting your tires replaced with wooden wheels. What happened to the other phones? Maybe you need to remove that task killer? Try it.

Yeah, remove 2.2 ...based on what I am experiencing and what other Incredible users are experiencing with the 2.2 install, I am better off with outdated software.

In addition to the problems I mentioned earlier, now the battery will not charge completely and VZW has only offered a replacement which is like getting another potentially defective device.

Luckily someone here at work is eager to receive the 2.2, but still on 2.1 so have traded Incredibles with him ...hopefully the update prompt will go away after ignoring it a few times ....

{edit for TOS violation}

As for the update, rumors are you will get notice every 30 mins to update.

Anyway, I wonder if you just need to make sure you dont have an app screwing things up.

Task killers should be removed, in my opinion.
