App Load Bug in 2.2

Okay, here's another bug I hope gets cleaned up by  the Moto Engineer group allegedly working on the SMS date stamp fix.

When I lay the Droid X flat on a table and tap an app, the app loads in landscape mode oriented to the right of the screen. This is new to 2.2: it now supports 270 degree rotation, and in the absence of a vertical aspect, it seems Froyo opts for screen right. Once I pick up the phone, however, the app adjusts itself to portrait. But I shouldn't have to do that.

I did calibrate my compass, but I doubt that has anything to do with the sensors which detect the X's orientation.

Question:

Is there a way to specify globally which orientation to load apps from Adroid settings? If there is, I haven't found it yet.

And if the Moto Squad is watching, please fix, if you please.

Thanks,

Mike

I have the same issue; I just wasn't quite sure how to explain it.  I haven't messed with my compass, and mine does the same thing.  I've thought about turning off Auto-rotate screen, but I prefer the browser in landscape mode.

I'd really like to see an option to restrict the rotation to 180 degrees like it was in 2.1

same problem here...very annoying!

apps/txt/emails all seem to have a propensity for opening landscape to the right (270)

please fix.

...and while your at it, need to fix the google search...when using it for contacts (under all)...does not list all contacts, and when selecting the contact- instead of going to the contact info, it opens to the top of the ABCs list of contacts; any one else?

There is not a setting where you can specify globally which orientation to load apps from Adroid settings. You can remove the orientation option. Go to Settings; Sound & Display; Orientation un check option to remove.
