Why are all these apps running that I never even started?
My Uploads
TTS Service
Amazon MP3
Skype Mobile
Music
Google Voice
Voice Commands
Sync Service
When I kill these apps, they seem to restart.

stop killing those apps/services
but....set to "auto kill" skype and Amazon mp3
And...learn a bit more about task killer and what you are killing.

Make sure you are using "advanced task killer froyo" DO NOT USE the regular one, it opens programs on its own. Look it up on the market.
For my new Droid X, too?
How do I then know what to "kill"?

There really is no point in killing the apps, the OS will just restart them or replace them by starting other apps. You aren't saving yourself any battery life by doing so, you're using more battery killing them then having the OS restart them or start others to fill their spot. Even though you see the apps as running, they aren't using cpu, only memory.

Task Killers can help with battery life is configured correctly, I noticed that simply only killing apps when the back light turned off helps and also do not kill any system apps because this can cause magor issues. Also using to much memory is a issue, when the device sees low memory the system is known to cause lag in the system.

I just got a new Droid X. I know there are lots of things running that I'm not using and never will.
But how do you "learn ... about what you're killing?
