Hi. I hope you are enjoying your phone! I love the Android software and I'm sure you will too . Yes, the app killer does save the battery because it will basically end the applications that you are not using. Regarding other applications to download, do you listen to music? I love Pandora. It is a free application that allows you to listen to playlists based on your favorite artist or genre.
We also have Skype Mobile that gives you unlimited Skype to Skype calls and IM. It works through our network so it is always on so you can answer and receive Skype calls anytime.
Last but certainly not least, I would suggest you download the "My Verizon" application. It is an convenient way to check your balance, usage, payments, features, and services.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks!

WOW, that is an open question! I guess it is all according to your interests. I am a weather geek so I have TWC, I already have free online service for XM radio, so I downloaded that as it was at no add'l cost.
I have a webcam from St. Croix VI just to make me sad and want to go back. What else, Local news papers.
Google Earth, and yes Pandora. I have had my phone since it came out and I have barely scratched the surface of what all is out there.

Also I added Mobile Defense. It is a program that allows you to see where your phone is via your PC if lost or stolen. You can lock the phone, send a notice with sirens and such. A must for any Droid. And it is free!

I think it may have been taken down as it has issues with 2.2 Here is the XM link to go to sign up to be notified when the new version is released for 2.2.

some of my fav's:
-shazam (identifies tracks on the radio so you don't have to try to remember what that song you liked was)
-advanced task killer free (do some research on task killers before you just download and start killing all apps.....some of them need to keep running)
-aloqa (just trust me on this one!!!)
-shop savvy (barcode scanner app that is very useful)
grid droid (addictive puzzle game)
-pandora (of course!)
-tv.com (shows limited network programming)
-skype (only if you have friends that use it)
-es file explorer (directory with the feel of your windows directory....very helpful)
-appbrain (market for apps that i find more useful than the "market" on the phone)
these are a few of my fav's.....i will suggest that you stick with highly rated apps and read the reviews on them (at least the first dozen or so) as you will find that many apps run better on certain devices. some will flat out tell you "doesn't work on droid inc"

TiKL Touch to Talk, a must have! Allows you to use your Android phone like a PTT like device (i.e. Nextel). Does not use minutes or SMS.
