Can you tell me how to disable my apps?  I'm in Europe and heard that's something I should do while here. I have a droid2. Thanks!

Airplane mode will prevent all data transfers except whenever you want turn on the wifi connection.

turn the phone off and pull the battery is the best way

 

other then that you need to look for an app that turns off 3g/data service
