I recently ordered a Droid X from VZ.com. Its says it will be shipped by 8/31. Does that mean it will be shipped ON that date or can i expect to get it sooner? The wait is killing me!
It is all dependent on stock and when they get shipments. But I can tell you that I ordered mine on 7/30 with a ship by date of 8/11 and I received my phone on 8/10. It seems they are shipping out earlier, but Verizon is being cautious in the ship by dates they are giving. Understandably so since the phone has been so popular.
You will receive an e-mail when they ship your phone out with a tracking number from Fed Ex, so you can stalk Fed Ex online until your phone arrives.
Just an FYI ... calling customer service to ask the status of your order between now and the time it ships is a waste of your time. They don't know have any extra information to give you. They look at your account status and will see the same thing you know: it's ordered with a pending ship date.
I know it's hard to be patient ... BELIEVE ME! I felt like a kid waiting for Christmas to arrive. But ... when you do get it, it will be worth the wait.

I just went into Costco and purchased the phone there, and took it home with me. It was the same price, and they threw in $50 worth of accessories.

For the last 2 or 3 years I have done by upgrade from Costco & no problems at all. I do like how Costco includes the extra accessories for no extra cost
I was unsure if i wanted to order one and wait. I was in Walmart and looked at the phones. I found out they had 1 Droid X in stock, Took it home with me for 199.00 no waiting Right place at the right time I guess.
I was on the phone with a rep before I ordered my Droid X today... the rep confirmed that orders placed on the 16th, 17th and 18th would ship on 8/31...
I ordered on 8/13 and was told it woud ship 8/30. I got a tracking number today and will have it by Monday.

That is funny.... I ordered on the 9th and they are saying it will not ship until the 25th.
I just called *611 and the CSR swears that they are shipping them in order of when the order was placed.
She basically said if anyone claims to be getting a phone out of order they are lying.

Ordered mine in the store with accessories on 10 Aug. As of this morning (20 Aug) no shipment email of any kind. I have a sneaking suspicion I man not get mine as promised when purchased.
I purchased in store on August 13th. I was told the ship date would be 08/25, but they did not say anything about receiving notification when it was shipped. The wait is killing me!

My wait is over! I recieved my FED EX shipment notification today at 11:00am telling me my phone has been shipped and I should recieve tomorow (Aug 24)! This has been the LONGEST week and a half I've ever expeirenced for sure. This is my first Droid phone but from all the videos I've seen on the web it will be my best phone yet!
I got the "August 31st" shipping when I ordered my phone.
My husband just got off the phone with Verizon.
Here are my new stats:
Ordered: 8/16 9:30 am
Talked to Verizon CS: 8/23 6:00 pm and got ship date
Shipping: 8/25
Receiving: either 8/26 or 8/27.
He could not confirm which day I would recieve it since the tracking number isn't generated yet. He said that the information from the warehouse is giving the shipping date but since FedEx doesn't have it yet, he cannot give out a tracking number. He said that I will get that on Wednesday when FedEx starts the shipping process.
Oh...and I'm in the Chicagoland area (40 minutes straight south) if that helps anyone with their estimates on shipping.
I ordered the phone online on 8/14 and the order status page says it will be shipped on the 30th. I don't understand, I ordered it earlier yet I am going to receive it later than those who ordered theirs after me? I am confused.... Especially since you mentioned you ordered yours on 8/16 yet your going to receive it either on the 26th or 27th. Verizon? Any valid explanation?
I got that information by calling customer service. I can't even pull up my order online. I wouldn't even know that my order is shipping tomorrow if I didn't talk to them directly. Give them a call, they may have different information for you.

I ordered online on 8/17 and I was originally told it would ship on 8/31. I just received email from Verizon that it has shipped. It is expected to arrive 8/26. so you should be hearing something soon.

Just a FYI I never got any emails from verizon so make sure you call *611 to get the tracking info. If I didnt call I would have had no clue it was coming the 26th. Im going to call the store I got it from and ask why I never got an email as promised. Im glad im getting the phone before the 31st but I feel like when I called a store about info they gave me a runaround. Everyone gave mw a diiferent story. Let me share something else with you guys. I just came from and eye appt. in Walmart and afterwards I jus' decided to walk back in electronics and to my little surprise discovered that they had FOUR, yes I said FOUR Droid Xs in stock. Now take it that I purchased mine on the 18th of August and is still pending shipment. So due to mine still pending shipment, I called Verizon immediately and explained the situation to them and simply asked if I could jus' pick it up from Walmart and cancel my order or do some type of rapid refund or swap, they told me the only way I could get one of those Droid Xs out of Walmart is to purchase it again and refuse my order when it comes and that it would take 5-7 business days for them to refund my money. I didn't want to have to pay for the Droid X twice, plus I got a good deal on mine, and I believe it's goin' to ship today or tomorrow, so I'm stuck in limbo now of purchasing the one of the four from Walmart or waitin' for mine. I'm tryin' to see if I'm gonna get a notification today, if not I might go back in there and buy one them from Walmart. I'm jus' don't want to have to spend another couple of hundred dollars on a phone I already have ordered. Verizon is very **bleep** because I asked them if I could simply swap the phone on order for the one in Walmart and their response was no because Walmart was a third party business or partner or sum' bull and that they don't get their phones from Verizon. Long story short. I'm mad azz hell right now!!!

He did say if more Droids arrived at the warehouse than was expected, then you might get the phone shipped at an earlier date. No promises, just an "if."
I told him how much I really wanted an iPhone because I'd had a touch (got wet and died), and I have a lot of apps you can't get for the Droid yet. He told me that Verizon will be getting the iPhone next year. That it is no longer a rumor. He also said he would be more than happy to cancel my order as long as it is before the 31st. For now, I'll wait. If I get a firm ship date, I will let you know.
It really sucks having to be at home to sign for the phone. I would like to go out of town, but can't until the phone ships. Good luck everyone else who is stuck in Droid X limbo.

Okay, so I called Verizon AGAIN today and the CSR said that for some reason my account did not show an email address to forward the confirmation to....WHY? So they said that I would need to call them AGAIN tomorrow to find out if my phone is on the way. I'm so tired of having to go through all of this all the time. I think that they just don't like the south and that's why I'm not getting it! Don't feel too bad, I'm still in the same boat as you, except that I have an email address on file, but we both are from the South and we both ordered on the same date, which is the 18th of Aug. Hopefully we'll have our phones before this weekend is out.
just wanted to give you guys an update. my phone is sitting 5 minutes away from me in the fedex facility. They received it very early this morning and could have delivered it today but apparently felt the need to torture me a little longer...lol. They are holding it because it was not scheduled for delivery today...lol. I should have it tomorrow before 7pm. For those of you who will not be home (like me), the fedex rep says if it is an inderct signature, you can leave a note asking them to leave it. make sure to include your tracking number and sign and date the note. i update once i have my X in my hand...

@upsandowns .. I think it's better to just check once a day and not get upset when there isn't any tracking info 5 days outside the ship date.... nothing that can be done if the phone doesn't ship out before then... I'm not to worried about it... it will ship when it's prepped.

Well folks I went had and cancelled my ordered that I made on the 18th of August and went and got my Droid X from Walmart for $199. To all of you that is still awaiting these jacked up shipments. Sorry and I feel ya' pain. All I can say is go check your local stores. I got lucky I guess. Our walmart here tho still has three in stock. Oh well folks I guess this is my retirement from the Droid X forums. It's been real and it's been a pleasure, but I have definitely paid my dues. HollA!!!
UGH...I'm so annoyed! I hate waiting for anything and this phone issue is really working my nerves. I understand that it's on back order but why are some people getting it before others? I was really hoping that I would get it before the weekend but seeing as how I haven't gotten any information on my ship date, I will have to wait until next week. I should have never thought that I (who never has good luck anyway) would get the phone in early like everyone else.

I just got my shipping information today! I am so thrilled to share this, I believe it MIGHT arrive tomorrow because my package is currently 'in-transit' from Ontario, CA and that's within my area. I know I shouldn't pay attention to this but it still bugs me that FedEx puts 'estimated delivery date of August 30th, 2010' when I know how close to my area my Droid X is. I have all of Friday and Saturday to wait for my package, hopefully my roommates get up to receive my package just in case the delivery man comes in the morning. I can't wait!
Can you access orders placed over the phone via the online tracking tool? I called and they still spit out the canned line of shipment by the 31st.
I ordered two Droid X's over the phone 8/16 around 4pm and am in Orlando, Fl. Haven't heard a word from them.....I am assuming my phones would ship from Memphis? I wasn't fretting too much over it, but my hubby is chomping at the bit and driving me nuts, so now I am all riled up!
I ordered my Droid X August 11th and I received it on August 25th. They gave me a ship date of August 26th after I called customer service, because the lady in the store acted like it was going to ship the next day. It'll be the last time I ever order anything off of her! Its an under promise over deliver kind of idea they have, I hope all of you have received your droids by now. No... Mine is just a few blocks away from home and well even though it's in the FedEx facility already since early this morning, they won't deliver it until Monday. It's been on it's way since early Thursday and despite being 'two day' shipping it will be held until Monday. I was trying to find out if I could just go and pick it up myself but I've read that usually it's more of a hassle than waiting for the delivery date so I decided to just wait until Monday after all. They say usually FedEx has to have a delivery attempt at least once before you can schedule a pick up yourself but yes, many other people have picked up their packages before the first delivery attempt but many said they either knew someone at the facility or they had to show various forms of identification. Some that tried but failed were told that they could not hand out the package because it was still in a closed shipment case and would not be retrieved until they were loading deliveries scheduled for that day. Trust me, I was really tempted to pick it up myself today but I was glad to have read all those comments since I would have basically lost time and breath trying to get my package. Needless to say it's very annoying knowing you have your phone sitting in a FedEx location a few blocks near you and knowing it won't get delivered until Monday despite having arrived at your local FedEx facility in the early morning hours of Friday. Oh well, I guess a few more days won't do me any harm, at least it's shipped and pretty much already within my reach, ha ha! The thing is that I start school on Monday and if the delivery man gets here before I head to school, all I will be able to do is leave it charging at home while I'm in class. Oh well.... That's that.

At least I know that they notify you on Saturday. Still waiting. Don't think I'm going to get mine on Aug 31, or even shipped on that date. You need to get notification a few days ahead I think. **bleep**, I should have cancelled and gone to Walmart!

Pyro, I was reading the Android Forums and I think I know why California is so behind. They are using the Ontario Warehouse to ship to Florida! LOL. Too bad they don't use the PA to ship to CA. We'd have our phones by now. I'm still waiting for shipping notifcation...
