My Droid X doesn't automatically sync my gmail contacts and calendar. I have to do it manually. Am I doing something wrong or is this the only way it works?
Are you trying to connect with your PC, Phone, and Google? Of just Google & your phone.

If you're only trying to SYNC between Google & your DROID X, go into the app drawer and click on "MY ACCOUNTS". Then select your Google account. There are options there to "Sync Contacts", "Sync Gmail", and "Sync Calendar" -- select those that you wish to SYNC to your phone. (While in that screen, you can also press the Menu button - there is an option to "SYNC NOW".)
