The Backup Assistance app does not always function correctly, if you have a Google account the contacts are stored there and will restore when you log into your Google account..

Thanks again, wildman! Quite correct in your feedback. Trailriderjude, sometimes exporting your contacts from Backup Assistant to a new device over the air might face some challenges. When it happened to me, I exported my contacts in a .csv file, saved the file to the hard drive of my PC, the uploaded them to the Gmail account. It has worked great since. If you need a walkthrough of that process, let me know. But if you're comfortable with the computer, simply log into your account @ My Verizon, hover your mouse over "Messaging" at the top of the page, select "Contacts" from the drop down menu and allow your contact phonebook to load. Once loaded, click on "Select All" in the grey bar above your contact list. Just to the right of "Select All" is a box with a down arrow on it. Click on it, and select "Export Contacts", then select  "Export my contacts to an email service, such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail, etc." It will create the .csv file for  you and ask you where you want to save it. Select a place on your computer (such as your desktop). Navigate to Google and log into your Gmail account. Once in your Gmail account, view your contacts. Above your list of contacts, select "Import", then select the .csv file you created from Backup Assistant. Gmail will do the rest!

Also if you decide to do this option, you may want to disable BA by going to Settings / Programs / Manage Programs / All Tabs / Sync Services snf Clear Data and reboot then now if you open BA you will have to set it back up again on the device...

Hope this helps..

I have been using Backup Assistant since the launch of the X, and I actually had my first failure last night/early this morning.

My wife has been using Backup Assistant since she got her Droid 2 Global at Christmas..... she has intermittant problems with Backup Assistant.

The difference is that her phone is has less than solid connection in her sewing room, and my phone has a more solid connection in the living room.
