Bad droid pro? Or bad Verizon??

I'm so frustrated! I have the droid pro, most time I don't have service anymore. My phone wont say no service, there is just no bars. Drop calls ALL THE TIME! Calls take forever to go through, if they go through! This is my personal, business and ONLY phone. I've had my phone updated, received a network extender, and still have crappy service.
Verizon has finally said you can get out of your contracts free. It wasn't the answer I was looking for. Honestly the only answer I was looking for was how to make it better. I love my phone! With my husbands work discount we get a great deal! They have the phone that my hubby wants, the bionic. Whenever it finally comes out.
Just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas before I switch service? Anything to try? Any thoughts?
**EDIT: mysteriously the network extender has started working tonight but a question for anyone who has experience with one. Will I show full service and when I try to make a call service goes down to 1 or 2 bars. So could this be a device issue??

Try standing close to the device and see if the signal drops when making call because I did this and learned it didnt do it until I was in my office area and I learned that I was getting interferance from my wireless Logitech reciever for me keyboard, mouse and wireless speaker set, after changing the default frequancy settings the issue stopped for me.... My point is make dure you do not have any wireless radio transmissions that may be cause you issues...

The only thing that is wireless is our internet. But it doesn't really mess with my hubby's droid. Could that be it and could it mess with one phone and not the other?

No I think its safe to exclude that as a possible issue... Is the device set to allow roaming or set in Home Only by chance?

We have the Droid X, Droid 2, Continuum, and my Mom is on the account with the old Razr.
In the last few couple months our service has gone to ####.. on all the cell phones, except the razr. It is NOT just at our house, but it is pretty much the entire area. It is NOT just us, it is everyone that has a Verizon phone living around us.
I am working with Verizon now, they have had me do the *228.. has not helped.
We have been told by 1 tech that it is the old ALLTEL towers and they plan to put up a new tower, but no answer has been given as when. Another Tech told me that it was the LTE Network Upgrade, but who knows.
They sent us an Extender (FREE), but that is not working either. All the lights (4) are blue, and the last tech I talked to said that one of the engineers would have to call me to talk me through to change the channel it is using.
So, here we sit... LONG time Verizon Customers, paying 205 bucks a month, and can't do much calling without getting dropped left and right.
OH. and on top of all this, we got rid of our land line about a year ago, because we had GREAT cell service, but now I have had to turn the land line back on to be able to make calls. So, we can add another 20 bucks a month on top of the 205 bucks a month.
SAD....but, I am hoping they will fix this, been waiting for almost 36 hours for the call from the engineer to change the channel on the Extender and still not sure if that will fix the problem. Still not sure what this will help outside the house.

Good luck.. We still have not heard from a Tech to change the channel on our extender, yet. 48 hours... Give them until tomorrow and I guess I will call back. My wife is pretty unhappy with this entire thing...I am trying to be patient, but she uses her cell for her business. She had to make a LONG DISTANT call on the land line today... I am catching crap for upgrading our phones.

did you upgrade from older flip phones? they have much better antennas. it's a shame, but that is why the RAZR still woks fine. while i have no issues, i know that my older phones had better antennas than the smart phones i have been getting for a while. older phones were designed and built to be phones. your X and continuum were designed and built to be micro computers that happen to make phone calls. i never like to admit the wife is right, but in your case, she likely has good reason to give you $41& for upgrading

I understand the problems you are having with your signal! I am here to assist.
You mentioned you are waiting for the arrival of your HTC Thunderbolt, please let me know how the new phone works out for you! I actually have the same model device, and have been very pleased with the performance, so I'm hoping you have just as much of a pleasant experience as well.

How were you able to just go to the bionic? I've been told many times that I'm in a 2 year contract, we don't just swap for different phones...

Hi tonyscany,
I understand your discontent with the new default settings/look of your phone after a major system update. Please keep in mind that Operating Software updates are developed and released by manufacturers to improve your device's performance and to resolve known issues, and some features and settings will change after any major software update (this is normal).
It is highly recommended to do a Factory Reset after a major Operating Software update to resolve any issues resulting from the update. Please do a Factory Reset and let us know if the issues were resolved.
