My battery on my Droid X dies by noon. I have done all the suggestions to save battery life, anyone else have this problem and what is the fix. My blackberry storms battery never went dead. And I used my phone all day long.

I am having the same problem. I have to recharge it at least twice during the day. This is the worst battery life I have ever seen.

How much and what kind of use is it getting?
I just plugged mine in after going all day and it was at 40%. Number of phone calls, about an hour screwing around trying to get it to work on my work network (not the phone's fault), surfing, a few texts, checking email, all capped off with a 30 minute walk out back playing with the GPS and google maps.

I am using it for your average type of business and personal use, emails, phone calls, texts, and web browsing. It seems as though it will not keep a good charge.

went from the incredible to the x and the battery is so much better on the droid x.
I use the task killer and have it set to kill apps when the screen goes off. I use mine for calls and text alot during the day. I use google voice and the web about a total of 1 hour a day. But I live on a phone for work. this thing holds up great for me. twice as long as my incredible and I had the extended battery on the incredible.
It could be a bad battery though. Been known to happen.

me too, I am going to be returning my droid x for a screen issue as soon as they get off back order.
My battery seems to last 4 hours max with intermittant usage.....maybe a few quick phone calls, a few texts, checking my 'updates' via the notification bar about once every 1/2 hour and looking at whatever 'new' e mails I've received.
It totally sucks, I have to bring my phone charger in my purse with me to work, I cannot make it through my shift either !
I am hoping to get a better battery with the new phone I will exchange it for.
I also plan on buying a battery with extended battery life-I'm hoping that will help some

I don't think there is an extend battery yet for the Droid X. I suggest getting that when it is available. That should really extend the battery life. Second tip would be to get the app called Power Manager Full for just 99 cents. That app should extend the battery life. I also mentioned a few more tips from a yahoo article in THIS thread if you are intested.

Your correct. There is not extended battery yet. I have been to the Verizorn store 3 times. Can't seem to keep it going without plugging it in mid day. I have changed all the settings so it is not using much on stand-by.
Can't wait untiil they come out with a better battery. I love the phone though.

I had similar battery issues the first few days. Here are some things that i've done to improve battery life and now last all day and much longer than my old Storm2.
- Reduce the screen brightness and remove the Automatic Brightness setting. Every time I checked Battery Manager the screen is the biggest consumer of the battery.
- I had changed the screen timeout but I've reset it back to 15 seconds.
- Install an application that kills tasks (like Advanced Task Killer). I also found that I would navigate away from an application but it would continue running. I now regularly kill tasks when I'm through using the phone for browsing/etc. This is the good/bad of being able to multi-task.
- Only turn "Use GPS satellites" on when absolutely necessary.
- I gave it a good overnight charge. I had been doing periodic charges during the day as the battery drained but had not really given my new phone a good long charge.
I'm not sure if all or one of these things made a difference.
I'd be curious as to whether anyone has experience with the affect of using wifi on the battery. I'm experimenting (unscientific) with it today.

My battery only last 4 hours even with wife, bluetooth, GPS disabled. I've only used the phone a couple of time during testing.

Just thought I'd give a little example of the battery life I'm getting.
Last Thursday I had golf league, and I had FreeCaddie and SkyDroid on the phone. I charged the phone right b4 I headed out. I had the two programs running, forgot to turn off my email so was getting email, got a call and a voicemail, got a couple IMs, and a number of text messages. Everything was running as I waited after my round for the rest of the guys for almost an hour, had a bunch of people ogling and playing with the phone, took a video and a couple pics. My league partner just got the iphone 4 for work, and we did a lot of side-by-each stuff as we were waiting. I then used it for the next 12 holes in a scramble, and probably ran the flashlight app for about 45 minutes during the last 2 holes plus having to pack my stuff up and park the cart, etc. After all that, which started at 4:30 and ended at 11:15ish, the battery was at 30%. Considering all that I was doing I'd say that was pretty good.
For the record, I didn't take the call, did check the voicemail, didn't read any of the email, and blew off the IM and texts.
