Battery Light

I'm confused?? I read that when the phone is powered off and you plug it into the wall charger the notification light will show amber for charging and solid green when charged. Now when I plug it in, it shows the battery logo on the screen showing the percentage of charge, then goes blank under a minute. Should there be a light in the notification area as well?

I have a DroidX.

I have never let my battery go below 50% as I always plug it in the wall with it off when I get home from work.

good morning spanky. i have owned my x since the second day of release and have never had the led display when charging. I know my gf`s lg ally displays a red led when charging and switches to green when fully charged. it seems to me that the x displays the battery status on screen to duplicate what apple does with their phones and itouches.

Thanks for the post. I was doing a little more digging and found this answer that someone was asking the same question. The phone off applies to my question.

When phone is on: Light will flash red when I get to 10% or below, letting me know to plug it into the wall charger. Once plugged, the light will then turn solid red up until its charged to 15%. After that, the light indicator will turn off and remain off even when its fully charged. I never see a light indicator (not even a solid or flashing green light) when its fully charged. Is that normal? The only way I know its fully charged is when I go to press the power button and then the screen will display what its current status is.

When phone is off:
Once plugged into the wall charger, the light will turn solid red (assuming it was flashing red before charging) and will remain red up until its charged to 15%, the light then goes off and remains off until its fully charged (I can check to see how far along its coming by pressing the power button to see an animated battery and how much its filled). It then flashes a green light when its fully charged. Is that normal?

I have always connected my phone to a charger once I get a notification from my phone when it hits 20% battery level and have never seen either led colors. Maybe its my phone that's acting up. Lol. At night I do keep it in the media dock. It allows me to not just charge the phone but use it as an alarm clock as well. I have the phones display to remain on while its in the dock.

yeah my led is always green even though i know it can do other colors and nobody here has a clue about this so dont ask trust me i tried,  but my battery icon changes colors from red to amber to green and if the phone is off the screen shows a large battery in the middle with percentage of charge on it.

i used to have an option to keep my screen awake while charging and i did a factory reset and can no longer find this does anyone know?
