Battery charging

I connected the X to my computer via the USB cable and it doesn't seem to charge with the PC. It charges fine with the wall plug though. I get a little green light on the upper left of the phone but no battery meter. Am I doing something wrong??

When you plug the phone in to your computer, do you see the usb symbol in the notification bar? If you don't, try this, keep the phone on, but reboot your computer. This procedure worked for me until I was able to download the motoconnection drive to my computer. If you do see the usb symbol, pull down the notification bar and click on it. You will have four choices. Click on the third choice. You should be able to open up the computer section and see your phone as another drive. Now you can drag and drop from computer to phone and from phone to computer. Hope this helps.

With the phone on I do see the USB symbol. I did select charge only. It shows the lightning bolt and says it's charging but never increases percentage. Does it take forever charging on a PC? Also, do I need the phone on to charge this way because with it turned off I get the little green light in the upper left hand corner and no battery meter?

spanky4350,
Keep in mind that the X only shows batt % in increments of (10%) untill it gets to (20) then it goes in (5%) increments. Also, it does seem to charge slower frm comp. It doesn't matter if X is off, but I would imagine if it's off it would chrg faster, being it's not using any power @ same time. Being I usually don't ever turn mine off, I believe u only get grn lt when it's off & chrg, some (1) will correct this if I'm wrong. And as far as a batt meter when off & chrg., push down on power button (not long enough to power up) & it will show a batt w/ % of chrg, once it gets to (5%) or more, if it was completely dead.

It will only charge if the phone is on when connected to the computer. If the phone is off and I plug in the USB cable it turns the phone on and will charge. If I shut the phone off while connected to the computer the battery meter will not show like it does when connected to the wall charger. It only shows a green led light in the upper left and this light does not show if connected to the wall charger.

spanky4350,
Thanks, I just learned something new. As I said, I pretty much never shut my X down (only for restart after chng something or batt pull if need). Thought I had, but I guess it's always just been when plugged into wall & never when hooked to comp. As I never recall that happening like that, as I just did it now after reading ur reply & realize what u meant. Again, thanks for teaching me something new.
