My battery decreases by 10% every hour even though I do not touch it. I have background data disabled, wifi disabled, news widget disabled, and social networking syncing when i'm on wifi, but nothing seems to work. I had ATK and then i deleted ATK. Nothing works, i even exchanged my phone for a new phone in case the problem was the phone but i still have the same problem. Is there something I have that's still turned on that's causing this problem? Or do i have a faulty battery? I read somewhere that the default batteries that come with the phone may be faulty and that buying a new battery might actually fix this problem.
My battery usage states:
Display 40%
Phone Idle 15
Android 15
Cell Standby 13
com.motorola.home 6
Text messaging 4
com.motorola.providers.cc 2
com.android.inputmethod 2

You know, I've been having a quick battery drain also. However, I've got it down to 5% now and it's been that way for quite a while now. Maybe like an hour or so. I went ahead and set the network options to "CDMA only" so that there is no chance it tries to scan for GSM also. I'm gonna try a couple more battery drains and see if it gets any better, but I can't really find anything to be the particular drain...
Would love other input, thanks.

I don't want to jinx it so I'm not going to say it's a definite solution, but I bought an extended battery and I have not had a battery drain problem so far. It's only been two days though so we'll see how the rest of the week goes. When I confronted one of the associates about this, he said that it was actually a known problem for the droidx and the droid2 that the batteries that came with the phone were faulty.
FYI along with the replaced battery, you also do have to turn off background data. I also have almost everything else turned off: bluetooth, wifi, no social networks, newswidget. I did leave the weather widget on though so you can leave certain stuff on and see how much battery life it takes. But background data is one thing I know that has to be turned off unless you're using it.

when yoou get a new phone you have to make sure you completely drain the battery and then fully charge it otherwise it could cause problems such as these. after you completely drain it then charge it you can plug in the battery whenever you like without a problem.

when you get a new phone you have to make sure you completely drain the battery and then fully charge it otherwise it could cause problems such as these. after you completely drain it then charge it you can plug in the battery whenever you like without a problem. also try deleting your cache every now and then. as far as clearing cache its a component that improves performance by transparently storing data. i have a history eraser to delete everything at once for me thus clearing up room and keeping phone from clogging up and lagging, etc. its a free app and easy to use. to download it on your phone go to market>apps>search>history eraser>HistoryEraser DUMAPIC (should be the first one listed)>tap on it>download>now once its downloaded open it and tap bomb>depending on how much you use the web browser, call people, search market histories, use navigation and maps, etc. is how often you need to clear your data. i do so about every two hours. you could also try hard resetting your phone. this would erase everything to the way you when you first got your phone out of the store so i t recommend it as a last resort choice. there is a website posted below with the information on how to quickly and easily do this.

I just wanted to post this for everyone. I am pretty good with this phone (skilled in how to run it).
I have 40% battery as we speak, and it has been unplugged for 16 hours and counting. I am using an original battery from a Droid 1 (same battery).
I have two email accounts set tp push, facebook account sync off, screen on autodim, and I do NOT have a task killer.
If you use your battery correctly and learn the ins and outs of the battery usage you will see these results.
Good luck everyone and ask questions on how to conserve battery.
let me first say a task killer is unnecessary on a smart phone but i have one anyway because i am stubborn and i just want to be sure lol. also i keep my phone in nighttime saver mode and i erase the history so as not to clog my phone up with any needless information and memory usage. i have found a free easy to use app that achieves this end. on your phone go to market>apps>tap the search icon>type in history eraser>tap history eraser DUMAPIC (should be the second one listed)>tap install>open app>the easiest way to delete all history at once is the bomb>and depending on how much you browse the internet, call people, etc. is how often you need to delete your history. i do it about twice everyday. and i use my phone quite a bit for texting i go upwards to 1400 texts a month including email (at least an hour alone spent texting including email everyday) and play games everyday (another 1 - 2 hours a day) and listen to music everyday (2 - 4 hours a day) and my battery lasts 6-8 hours a day. im basically on my phone all the time unless im at work. i also have my yahoo and facebook and myspace and gmail synced to my phone. im hardly on my laptop anymore and i dont like to keep long term friends/family waiting.
