My battery has been dying very quickly and my phone has been getting very hot. I went to the store to get it checked out and they said i had a bad battery and it was replaced but it keeps doing it. What the heck is going on with my phone???

It sounds like your charging device might not be working properly.  I'd take in your charging device and have them check it.  Also go over power settings with an employee.

Active Wifi and GPS will kill your battery that fast.  Check in your settings and make sure these are turned off while not in use.

What exactly do you do with the phone in a "typical" day?  As crb said, allowing GPS &/or WiFi turned on all the time is a quick drainer. I charge once a day ... probably could go 1.5 days if I wanted.  That gives me about an hour or 2 of surfing, 5-8 calls, an hour of music ...  so I'm certainly not a "power user" ...  A "hot" phone, IMHO, is likely due to heavy CPU use - music, internet radio, video, etc.  I did a "test" this last weekend on a 2 hour trip. I turned on GPS, had Google NAV running the whole time, but had it in my car charger ...  The battery never got hotter than 92.7 degrees ...  I was actually quite surprised.
