Bionic Camera intermittent black screen

Have noticed an issue taking place with the camera since I first got the phone and found something else strange surrounding it tonight. Basically when the brightness in either the camera or camcorder app is below the halfway mark, the screen intermittently (every 10 seconds) flashes black for a moment. This will actually record on a video every 10 seconds. Not sure if it is only happening in low lighting, but after I adjusted the brightness to halfway mark, it stopped. Changed it back down again and it started up again

Does the Bionic have the mechanical shutter like the Droid X?  If so then you may want to check and make sure its functioning correctly..

Jmiddel24, I can certainly see why it would be frustrating to have your screen going black while trying to use the camera. I researched this issue and I am not showing this as a known issue with the device. I would first suggest resetting the camera application on this device. This will not delete any of your pictures, but will reset the settings back to the default camera settings. Next, try putting the phone is safe mode to see if this is still occurring. If so, it may be an application that is causing the issue.

If the issue is still occurring in safe mode, the last step would be a factory reset. This will erase on data on the phone and reset it to factory default settings. Your SD card will not be affected. You will need to make sure your contacts are backed up to either Gmail, Backup Assistant or you SD card.

Thank you for the tips. I did all of these things and am still having issues albeit a little differently after the troubleshooting. Camera Reset and Factory Reset did not fix. While in safe mode and then after rebooting from safe mode, I noticed that the flickering started happening in 5 second intervals, and only happened when in low lighting and was sort of random. I feel like it may have to do with th auto focus. When the camera is continuously trying to focus in low brightness/lighting, it causes the camera app to 'hiccup' and flicker, maybe?

I am an employee and also saw this posted to our internal device troubleshooting forums for the bionic by another employee seeing it happen on a customer's device.
