Lots of people have reported this, for example:

DROID Bionic No Data Connection

SERIOUS DATA CONNECTIVITY ISSUES

...though I haven't noticed it myself.

Yes,--dropping 4g and 3g in Phoenix area.  No solution yet.  Have to go to V. store I guess.  Also dropping Hot Spot.

Changing the battery mode to performance seems to help (not resolve) the problem.

Settings --> Battery & data manager --> Battery mode --> Performance mode

more info about the issue here:

Beware.  I kept getting "No Data Connection" notices.  I was recently told it was not a network problem but a "known" problem with the Bionic.  Verizon just sent me a refurbished Razr to replace my Bionic.

How did you get them to give you a RAZR and are you happy with it now?  I am on my second BIONIC and been having more connectivity issues than ever.  I can barely use the data connection anymore.  I saw another post where a VZW support person says go to the store and try a new SIM card...?

I'm Michael in Tucson. This is my third bionic phone since Jan. 18, 2012. I bought it at Diamond Verizon at Park Place Mall from Alisha (sp). They never returned calls, I went in three times and left hand written messages that were still up the 2nd and third time I went into the store. Sent 5o plus texts too. None of which were ever answered. Verizon has tried to help but to no avail. The bionic has to be the dumbest of the So-Called smart phones. besides three phones I replaced the sim cards twice and reset my phone to factory settings quite a few times. How sad to have a phone that works great as a paper weight. I've asked to be refunded my money and to return this junk many times but they kept putting me off until the MAGIC 14 DAY NO RETURN policy went into effect. Needless to say I'm very dissatisfied with verizon and the bionic phone.

What specific problems are you having with it? The latest OTA update was supposed to fix some instability issues.

"The latest OTA update was supposed to fix some instability issues."  ROTFLMFAO - this is what caused my Connection Loss issue over 6 weeks ago.  I travel and have experienced data connection failure in LA, San Antonio, Orlando, Indianapolis, Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland.  I have to sit and keep tapping the screen until it makes connection.  It makes it very difficult to do business because the text messages and emails do not go through when there is data loss.  Maybe a class action lawsuit against Verizon may be in the future.  I will be contacting my local media on doing a story regarding Verizon and their "data loss" phones.  Very disappointed with Verizon now!!!!

I too went through three different Bionics.  After changing sim cards and updating I finally got tech support to send me a refurb Samsung Galaxy Nexus.  The Bionic is no longer sold on theirs or Amazonwireless.com's websites and I have read there is a known issue with the radio anttena.  We will see how it goes.

I have had constant data connectivity issues since the latest OTA update for Droid Bionic.  Actually my connection here in LA was relatively fine, but the latest update seems to have create problems.  I am just furious about this to say the least.  Verizon will be of little help as i have contacted them.  No one  on Verizon seems to see any reports of connectivity problems regarding the latest update.  Yet, I see online that connectivity issues are rampant with regards to latest updates.

Hi talos72,

I'm sorry to learn that you're having data connectivity issues after latest software update. No network issues are noted in our system for LA.
It is highly recommended to do a factory reset http://goo.gl/lV0mv after a software update as this clears any conflicts with previous software version system files. Please try it and keep us posted.

Sorry to say, AntonioC_VZWSupport, but a factory reset does NOT fix the issue. I can tell you this because I thought the same thing about a month ago when I did a factory reset.  I am still having the same data connectivity issues I've been having.

I am located in Kansas City, and have had massive data connectivity issues over the past several months.  I was told by the store that the ICS udpate should fix this, as it is a known issue with the phone.  However, here we are, a year after the phone was released and 10 months after the ICS release, and the Bionic still doesn't have ICS.

My phone will connect to the data network ONLY when in 3G.  It is impossible for me to use my data functions otherwise, unless I am using a wi-fi connection.  I have had the 4G LTE SIM card changed as well, with no resolution of issue.

I have been with Verizion too long, and perhaps I need to be price checking other carriers, as my contacts will all be up in February, which I bet the Bionic still will not get its ICS update by then.

I've been having issues with my Bionic also. No 4G and now the camera has stopped working.

Sim card was replaced at the Diamond Verizon store and still having issues.

I get the blue/white 3G or the "No Service" bars...I'm in Tucson,AZ right near a cell tower.

HELP!

I'm in southern California and I've been having problems staying connected to data for about 6 weeks now. I've had the SIM card replaced twice and I'm on the 2nd unit. The problem continues.  I've ran it in safe mode, deleted all apps, and nothing seems to help. When i requested help from engineers or CSR @ Verizon, I keep getting different answers.  An engineer told me he thought it was a problem specific to Motorola Bionic.  Now after reading post on here I'm inclined to believe it. I loved the reply I got at the Montclair Ca. store. She was under the impression that it's a 4G problem and not until Verizon finished updating everyone to 4G (at the end of 2013, she suspected) I was just going to have to "deal with it".  It is ironic how Bionic is no longer for sale. It's no longer supported on most pages and even when I logged in here, Bionic wasn't an option.   I've been with Verizon well over 15 years (anyone remember AirTouch Cellular?) I've had the same number many years and have always preached the goodness of Verizon.  I'm slowly starting to UN-convert.

I absolutely loathe my bionic. By far the worst phone I've ever had. I've gone into the verizon store 3 or 4 times now asking them to do *something* about the P.O.S.  Having a "4G LTE" logo up at the top of my screen with 4 blue bars is not what I pay them money for.. it's for there to actually be a data connection. I'm seriously wondering if there are grounds for a class-action suit .. I'm paying them for something they're not delivering. They sold me a hunk of $**T phone that can't stay connected to their service.. and then tell me "sorry, you'll have to deal with it until your contract is up" (verbatim.. verizon store employee[s]).

I think it's funny that if you go into verizons "discussions" page and select "Android" devices, Bionic is not even listed. Ashamed of something?

It seems as Verizon does not want to inform any of the Droid users that Motorola is upgrading all the Droid phones.  I just love the announcement which I received from Verizon regarding this - I found it myself searching the web.  I took my Droid Bionic into a certified Verizon Wireless store this week and they did a factory reset on it as recommended by an email I received from the Verizon TEch Support.  Not even 12 hours later I was having Connection issues again.  I do hope that this new ICS upgrade will correct these issues, but it looks as though I will have to wait a bit longer for the update according to the schedule Motorola has.  The web site is https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c which lists the upgrade information.  Hopefully this resolves the F'ed up phones that Verizon sells to users and pulls off the market, but no compensation to those who can't use them for what they pay for.  And interesting that Tech Support has this in one of their replies back to me . . . "The 4G network is up and running correctly, it's an issue with your phone not being able to make a steady connection. This is not a breach of contract, if service is disconnected and Early Termination fee of $300.00 will apply."  Charge me extra for cancelling a service which they are not adequately providing according to their contract!!!  I will be switching companies for that reason!!

For those that are still using the Droid Bionic and having the 4G Data Drops here is another avenue for resolution.

http://support.verizonwireless.com/pdf/Notice_of_Dispute.pdf

In August and Sept Verizon issued me a $15 inconvenience fee as my data usage has gone down from 8-9 Gb's per month to 2-3 Gb's per month as I have had to use 3G only as the data drops on 4G make the phone unreliable.  This solution was acceptable to me since the software update was Early Q3 and then late Q3.  But now that the update is set for Q4 I asked for another $15 credit and Verizon said no more credits.

So I simply filled out the above form today and am asking for a credit for each month of service where I couldn't reliably use 4G or a a replacement phone of my choice that is agreeable to Verizon.

If we can't agree then according to the Verizon contract you can ask for Arbitration or go to Small Claims Court.

Hopefully this works for me and helps others as well.
