Blackberry Curve vs. Droid X

I have been with BB for several years now and the Palm before that...mainly for the keyboard. My son has the iphone and says, "Wait for Verizon to get the iphone." I have a friend who has the Evo and I was jacked for the HTC Inc. Now I am confused...

Should I move to the droid x? For those who have went through this change from a keyboard to the touchscreen keyboard...how is it? How is swipe working? How are you dealing with the size of the phone itself?

Just need some calming words of wisdom!!

I went from the BB Curve to the Droid X. I've only had it for a few days, but haven't had any problems so far making the adjustment. I've been hearing mixed reviews from friends & coworkers about the HTC droid, some good, some bad. I just happened into the store the day the Motorola came out & picked this one. My husband is a die hard iPhone person & now has the Droid X & LOVES IT!!!! He's been really impressed with the features & capabilities. He's compared it to the iPhone, but must honestly admit, there is no comparison. I think this one is MUCH better!!!

I'm not sure about the swipe part of your question, but have used several of the other features. If you're not sure about the texting on the touch screen, it has a talk to text option that I just tested... It is GREAT!!!

Swipe is one of the best keyboards around, I can spit out 5 messages to my co worker does 1 on his BB

i've got the htc inc and was VERY hesitant to switch from a physical qwerty to a touch screen. i now LOVE it. and since the X is so much larger, i can only imagine it is even easier to type. you don't have to use swype but most people that took the time to learn and get familiar with it, love it. i can tell you that i wouldn't trade my inc for anything.....except the X!!! lol

very good feed back. I am a research freak, because I like to make sure I spend my money well. I do like what I a hearing.

How are the apps with android? Where can I go, other than Verizon, to see different android apps? What are the must haves of apps? Has anyone used the GPS feature? how does it compare to TomTom or a Garmin system?

Any other things I need to know???

the gps and google maps is INSANE. i literally tell it where i want to go and it starts tellin me how to get there. i've never used other nav systems. i actually thought to myself (while xmas shopping last year at kohls and watching everyone in line with a garmin) "why would anyone buy a garmin? won't these things be obsolete in a year or two?" go to appbrain.com if you want to check some of the apps. android has a TON. my favorites are pandora, cnbc, xda (it is a forum through the app), ringdroid, a banking app (specific to my bank), onn (the onion, if your familiar), aloqa (search local atm's, restaurants, coffe shops....whatever. it lists them by distance from you and rates them). i also use shopsavvy and coupons. they have bar code scanners and you can search a product while you are at the store to see if somewhere else has it cheaper or if there is a coupon available. this thing has really become my personal assistant and i can't believe i waited this long to get a droid. please note though....i came from a dumb-phone (env touch) so maybe i'm just blown away because i've never had a smart phone? but i have yet to find something that i really want it to do, but can't find an app for it. there is a blue tooth issue that you can research (have to touch the phone to make calls) that is supposed to be fixed with the 2.2 update (whenever we actually get it?)

That person is moving on from Blackberry and to android.I think their very excited. I would say try out the Droid X. If you don't like it you can always switch back to your Blackberry or another new different device (maybe another blackberry?).

Do be warned that having a only touch screen phone will take some time getting used to. You might warm up to it really quick or it make take some time to do so. With the typing on touch screen, lets just say practice makes perfect

Adroid Apps are hit or miss on the free side. There are some really good free apps and games, but some are truly junk. Google "Android Apps" to get a ton of top 10,20,30,40 lists of apps.

The GPS syncs pretty quickly, and with Google maps navigation I find it every bit as capable as a Garmin.

As for your keyboard, the screen is pretty big, and I have big fingers so when I am half asleep I have a lot of problems with it. But when I am wide awake using the device it's great.

I also like the fact that Motorola has a good history for standing behind their products. That was my biggest objection with HTC, they spread themselves thin across multiple devices and tend to start on a new project forgetting about the bugs of their previous products.
