Blackberry User Converting to Droid - Some Important Functions Seem to be Missing

I am converting over from a Blackberry (synched to MS Outlook on my desktop) and don't understand how the Droid will handle this:

- Contact Info.  As I understand this, to update contact info., I have to copy the data to my gmail account and then it gets sent to my Droid.  If I change the data on my phone, how do I get that data back to my desktop?  I could just do everything online, but what happens when:  google's server goes down (they say that won't happen, but they said the same thing about Blackberry) or my internet connection goes down?

- Task Manager - How does the Droid handle this?

- Notes (text notes synched between PDA and desktop)?

Also, how do I get my playlists from my iPod copied over to my Droid?

Had same problem....solution I discovered after Verizon support said could not be done:

a)    download  CL USB sync (was online in ? apps)

b)   download trial software to computer from  Companionlink.com/USB   (free 2 week trial)

c)    intuitive configure and run!

Good Luck!

Go to the app Icon and download Astrid (its equavalent to to BB's to-do list).  Its free.

For notes, you can look up AK notepad, there is a free and paid verison.

Contact info goes both ways.  What I do in Gmail changes the info in my phone and what I do in my phone changes the entry in my GMail contacts.  Google doesn't have a Server they have multiple server farms.  As data goes Google is a search and data company entering the phone market, Blackberry is made by RIM a phone company that provides data.  Not to say there won't be issues but it is infinitely less likely.  More likly is Verizon having a data issue on Droid's and Blackberries.  that happened to me I could do web but my e-mail wasn't syncing and it turned out to be a Verizon problem out of Georgia or something.

Task manager I used to use Astrid but it got annoying constantly sending me alerts and what not sometimes randomly not related to the arbitrary dates I set.  I have switched to Gtasks because it syncs with my google task list and I can give it a date and time or I can just put it on there as a general get this done.  Some things are time sensitive others are not.  I keep the widget on my main home screen and that gives me enough of a reminder.  I haven't tried it with dates yet so I don't know if it warns you when a date is approaching.  I do know it doesn't randomly give you pep talks throughout the day for no apparent reason.

Hmm notes synced between PDA and Desktop.  Not sure.  I don't do this.  I have a notepad but mostly for my own personal notes so I can remember things easier.  I don't really need to sync it.  I imagine there is a google app for that.  Maybe reader or one of the other apps and web tools has a sync feature for txt files.  Sorry I can't be more help on that.

There are multiple apps for that and since I don't have an iPod and never really desired a locked down feature limited mp3 player I never really got tied into the iPod trap.  You can just connect to your computer and drag and drop all your music.  Personally I prefer that to a transfer interface.
