Blank Screen on Droid Ultra

Newbie

Ok, just got the Ultra last night and everything has been fine.  However, on the way to work this morning, I went to "wake up" the phone by pressing the power button, and the screen is blank.  There is absolutely nothing there.  I can swipe the screen and hear that it is on, however, I see nothing.  I tried re-booting the phone, I tried calling it from my work phone, and I even tried using voice command.  It functions, I just can't see anything.  Any help would be appreciated!

Looks like you got a lemon. It happens. Either a connection got loose or the backlight went out completely. Take it to a store they should be able to replace it for you, as it's defective and still within 14 day period.

Hi gencyn,

I am sad to hear you are already having problems with such a great device. I love mine!  I would recommend trying to hold the power key and volume down key together to see if a restart can be done. If the problem is still persisting and you are in your 14 day worry free period, I would exchange it for another Droid Ultra.  If you are outside of this time, we can replace your device with a warranty replacement. Keep us posted.

Thanks, BobbyS_VZW

Hi TreeTownGirl91,

Let's bring your device back to life! Has there been any liquid or physical damage to the device? Try completing a wipe cache partition on the device:

hold the Volume down button, press and release the Power button.

When presented with the Boot Mode Selection Menu screen, release all then proceed with step 3.

Press and hold the Volume Down button for 2-3 seconds then press and release the Power button.

From the Boot Mode Selection Menu (white text on a black background) screen, select Recovery.
Utilize the Volume Down button to scroll through the options and the Volume Up button to select.
If the device reboots, you may have waited too long to make a selection. Restart the process.

From the Droid triage screen:
Press and hold the Volume Up button.
While holding the Volume Up button, press and release the Power button.
From the Android system recovery screen, select wipe cache partition.
Utilize the Volume buttons to navigate the options and the Power button to select.
The device to may take 60 to 90 seconds to restart.

Thanks,

I, too, have this problem.

I can call the phone and it rings, but there is no display.

I tried holding down the power/downvolume buttons for 20 seconds. It appears to have turned the phone off, because when I tried to call it this time, it did NOT ring.

So then I held the power button for 10 seconds, until it vibrated and I let up. Got the "droid" sound, but still no display.

It successfully turned the phone on as I can call it now - but no display.

What next?

Stonetica,

Help has arrived! We appreciate you taking the steps previsouly provided in an attempt to resolve this concern. The last step usually taken is a master/factory reset. Since we are unable to navigate through the devices menu, it may be a bit difficult to do so. Please attempt to follow these steps here http://vz.to/1cw4C8w and let us know if it helps.
